It is not a cheap product. The NetWitness Platform may be affordable only for enterprise-level customers, as it may not be within the budget of small and medium-sized businesses.

We have yearly licensing costs. The license fee can be based on the volume of EPS. Some organizations may have, as a gentlemanly gesture, 10,000 EPS and get a 3,000 EPS license but actually use 5,000 EPS.
It's my understanding that the pricing of the product is pretty good. Compared to other options on the market, it's reasonable. I would say it's economical, as the licensing part is always a different ball game in the SIEM tools business, as everyone is running their business in a different manner. If you go to IBM, they will charge you in a different way, for example. RSA will charge you in a different way as well, and Splunk has its own unique licensing policies. I would say it's economical. I won't say it's cheap. It is in between. Currently, there is only one license. There aren't different licensing models. Hardware is included in the price.

From a pricing perspective, I wouldn't say it's too expensive because recently, they came up with a good plan that would also work for small enterprises. At the early stage, it was quite appliance-based, but now you have virtual machines that take away the appliance cost for customers. So, price wise, it is fair compared to the cost of other SIEM solutions.

It would help if they could provide the malware analytics in the core package as that would make the cost more reasonable. Licensing is paid annually and I believe the cost is somewhere between 12,000 - 15,000 Pounds per year. It's very high.

Many clients are not able to purchase the packet capability because there is a huge amount of data, and the cost depends on the number of EPS (Events per second), as well as the number of gigabytes of data per day.
This is a pricey solution; it's not cheap. Perhaps if the implementation is small then it is not bad, but if you have a global network or a security agency that needs to be segregated on the network, then it can be quite pricey.
NetWitness Platform is an evolved SIEM and threat detection and response solution that functions as a single, unified platform for ALL your security data. It features an advanced analyst workbench for triaging alerts and incidents, and it orchestrates security operations programs end to end. In short: NetWitness Platform is all you need to run an intelligent SOC.

We have a perpetual license, so the total cost of ownership is not very expensive. It's a good investment.
