I am working with Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista, dealing with switches, such as the OmniSwitch and OmniAccess Stellar. I am also involved in working with ePBX and OmniBasics Enterprise.
There are two versions of Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista. Omnivista 2500 is for on-premise and Omnivista Cirrus. Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista is used to monitor and control equipment from Alcatel-Lucent.
Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista is used for access points and switches. If we take a closer look at performance, it's related to the switch and the access point. You can't sell Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista to any customer using Cisco, Aruba, etc. You can't sell it to any customer as a stand-alone product. Those who are using the switch and the access point, will also be using Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista for the configuration and maintenance. We're using this solution for the configuration of the switches and the maintenance of the access points. It can also provide maintenance, e.g. it helps with the performance of the switches and the access points. It has a graphical view so you can see what is happening in the system, e.g. in the network, you can see how many access points are running, how many systems are running, and what is the health condition of the devices connected to the network. All those things are monitored from Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista. This application, without the switches and without the access points, won't be applicable, so you can't sell it to a customer who's using Cisco.

We use it to monitor and manage our wireless-base and to create reports. It has a little more effective reporting as far as timelines go because it goes back and controllers can't natively do that.
What are Network Management Applications? Network Management Applications (NMAs) are software applications that live on Network Management Stations (NMSs) and retrieve data from management agents (MAs). NMA agents monitor and control devices on the network, which is trying to efficient operate servers, databases, and routers. PeerSpot IT professionals maintain their networks for interdependent daily tasks that process and store data for large enterprises.

We use OmniVista in our office, for network inter-connectivity.
We use the solution to manage network connections for ethernet suites and wireless solutions.

We use the Alcatel-Lucent OmniVista for analytics, appointment manager, and security.
It is our single pane of glass for the management and incident reporting of both wired and wireless infrastructure.
