There are two main use cases. One is reengineering an existing model and making changes from a database. The other is making a new model from scratch. These use cases involve all kinds of systems, including both Oracle and lately also Postgres.
I used to work for a large corporation where I used it for Oracle. I've really enjoyed the product for SQL Server. It is used for software development.

I'm using Toad Data Modeler for modeling from scratch, generating database schema, re-engineering an existing database into a data model, making some changes, and generating a new schema.
I am a software developer and I used Toad in my previous company with the Oracle database, but currently, I am using it with SQL Server. My primary use for this solution is database management.
We use Toad as a solution for packages and day-to-day tasks, like calling and finding, when we have some support queries or need to check if there is a data issue. We also use it when we want to develop objects. For those kinds of sites only we use Toad. Sometimes we use it to load data from a third-party source.
