The product needs improvement to become better. For example, we attempted to integrate with Postgres SQL server to backup the database alone, which was not supported. For this reason, we required a separate solution for database backups. While other SQL servers are supported, Barracuda Backup has limitations with database backups. The main area for improvement is integration and support for databases.
Barracuda Backup's support could be improved because sometimes the support team is situated outside the country, leading to time zone issues. Adding AI features for security would also be beneficial as artificial intelligence is always helpful from a security perspective.
Barracuda Backup's user interface needs to be renewed as it appears outdated. Additionally, integration with vendors other than VMware and Hyper-V would make it more competitive.
An improvement is required in reports and backups for sharing on Linux and Unix. Also, it should take a granular amount of time to do the backup and allow more devices, including Azure data machines.
There's always room for improvement in a product, whether it's stability or its graphical user interface. For example, it would be nice if a user could delete something and then recover it themselves. That would be a nice feature. Maybe, granting users specific access rights to Barracuda for their own backups so they can restore something themselves would be a nice feature. It would save our support team some time. While I don't think there's any backup solution that currently offers this, it would be a valuable feature to consider for the future. If you look ahead, the ability to empower users to handle their own restores could be a significant improvement.
