The solution should offer more flexibility and freedom for the customer. Currently, it's like a black box that only Dell technical support knows how to handle. I faced several problems that I couldn't solve without Dell's help.

Dell vSAN Ready Nodes doesn't perform as well as IBM. There are significant limitations, especially with scalability and flexibility over time. For example, adding drives can be problematic if the specific drives aren't available with older nodes that are four or five years old. Unlike IBM, Dell vSAN Ready Nodes isn't as flexible and doesn't scale easily. Additionally, while present, features like deduplication and compression don't perform as efficiently as they do on IBM. Our experience shows that the tool isn't as robust or flexible as advertised.
The product's price is an area of concern where improvements are required. The price of Dell vSAN Ready Nodes could be lowered. Dell's competitors offer many products at very good prices. I face some issues with the stability of the product, making it an area where improvements are required. In the future, I want to receive technical support directly from the vendor.

There is room for improvement in the maintenance pricing. Maintenance isn't difficult, but the prices are high and ridiculous. Some customers feel it is better to go with a new solution rather than renew this one. We would love to have some new features.
The main weakness we have with this solution relates to storage expansion. It's not sufficiently scalable in the sense that if we need to scale this product, we need to scale up everything. I'd like to see the single-click feature in the next upgrade.
The Dell VxRail solution is based on vSAN Ready Nodes, but the Dell VxRail is fully automated. It would be helpful if this automation feature could be added to the Dell vSAN Ready Nodes. For example, we need to install VMware ESXi, and manually expand the cluster.

The solution should provide daily task alerts for data recovery maintenance, usage, and other instructions to ensure the systems are in a good status. The only alerts provided are during system builds and I want to be more connected to the applications I'm using.

The solution doesn't scale. Their pricing could be more flexible. For example, in some cases, Lenovo offers more flexible pricing in some areas. We've had issues where we weren't able to close a contract based on the inflexibility of Dell and the client went to Lenovo instead.

Dell EMC vSAN Ready Nodes is a great hyper-converged system that is a perfect platform for supporting any kind of workload. The only workload that it's not designed to support is big data.

They have to be more compatible. When you are looking at Nutanix versus vSan with VMware, the operating system licenses are often difficult for those people in the mid-tier organizations that do not have access to ELAs. They are heading in the right direction and moving to integrate everything with a hybrid cloud, and moving workloads back and forth. Also, the scalability could be better.

The initial setup is slightly complex and could be improved. Compatibility with other hardware nodes needs to be improved. I want to be able to mix and match the hardware nodes if I am elsewhere and continue using hyper-converged.

I think the upgrades could be improved. If you compare it to other HCI solutions, like VxRail, the upgrade process is fully automated whereas on vSAM ReadyNodes it's a bit complicated and we have to do it manually. Finding some way to automate this process to make it a smarter, more perfect solution would be an improvement, it would make the solution more flexible, easier to administer, and would make my life easier.
Dell EMC vSAN Ready Nodes are pre-configured building blocks that reduce deployment
risks with certified configurations, improve storage efficiency by up to 50%1
, and can help
you build or scale your vSAN cluster faster.14 Whether you're just getting started, and/or
expanding your existing VMware environment, Dell EMC is here for you every step of the
way with consulting, education, deployment and support services for the entire solution.
