Mailchimp could be more user-friendly for setting up WordPress websites. Some of the complex settings can be time-consuming to configure. So, setting up Mailchimp for WordPress websites can be time-consuming for an average user but not necessarily difficult. It's time-consuming, especially when adding custom code to email campaigns. It requires some experience and knowledge to do it effectively.
The solution should improve its reporting feature. There should be more transparency around API development. At the moment, the clients are pushing custom API into the mail, so we don't have too much visibility regarding what endpoints they're pushing the data into.
Push notifications and SMS capabilities can be included in the next release. Also, a modern and updated template library would be great. The website builder can also be improved with more customization and hot reloading features. A standalone system for private servers would be ideal. Mobile apps can be improved to harness current hardware standards. The user dashboard can be made much more elegant. Some kind of gamification, reward, and loyalty programs for users would be awesome to have. Also, integration with more third-party systems would be a plus.

Sadly now Mailchimp has started charging for the use of the auto-responder (automation) emails, so it's lost it's edge for the free services. There are cheaper platforms elsewhere that will be auto-responders if that's important to you and your business. UPDATE: As of May 2017, Automation is now free for everyone!!
