It would be beneficial if Toad for Oracle could incorporate OEM features, as having monitoring capabilities in the same interface would simplify workload and management tasks.
In future releases, the product can be more intuitive. It has to be lighter than what it is because sometimes it is not responding quickly. If I do some features at the same time, it's not supporting. I have to wait sometimes to get the action. It's dependent on the resources of the workstation, but it has to be improved in this area. The faster processing is needed.
I think one area is being able to use shortcuts, for example, being able to press F5 to run a query or having the ability to seamlessly copy and paste. Sometimes it works in some areas, but in others, it doesn't. Like when you copy, you find that it's blank and doesn't copy anything. So, there are some objects that do copy, and sometimes they don't. In additional features, I would like maybe one for the integration with the ticketing system. For example, if a ticket is raised to resolve an issue, there should be something that I can click on to update the ticket when I'm done.

An area where the solution could use some improvement is in terms of user-friendliness. During the initial setup phase, the solution was not very intuitive when attempting to establish connections. If Toad for Oracle can visualize solution files similar to how Microsoft Visual Studio displays position files using Microsoft SQL Server and support its existing database querying capabilities, it would be a significant game-changer. Understanding the architecture of the database is crucial when testing a database and solution files.

Sometimes when I write a query, it gives an unusual error code. Toad for Oracle does not have a particular resolution within the application. Then, I have to search for the code and find a solution. I would like Oracle to implement error codes so that we don't have to search for solutions on Google. It would be more convenient if the error codes were included within the application.

I'd like to have a free version. Once I move companies, I do not have a license. I only have limited days of a trial. I'd like to be able to show the company what it can do. However, now, I've shifted to a different service since I don't have my Toad license. There are limitations to its use. If you do not have a license, some features are not allowed. There is a trial, however, after this trial, I can't use the Toad as not all features are there since you have to pay for them. I'd like reporting to be more available. If it was a feature that was already installed, more people would take advantage of it.

Although the tool has come a long way since I started using it, there are still some things that need to be improved. For example, query optimization is still very resource-intensive, and sometimes it is slow to get the results. On some occasions, I have had to leave it analyzing for more than 12 hours. Another thing that could be improved is the reporting. In particular, it seems to me that it is difficult to be able to make a report using the tool. Currently, I have to make the queries in Toad and transfer them to other tools (for example, SQL*Plus, Oracle Reports, et cetera).
It would be better if they had an online option allowing me to connect from anywhere on any device. Sometimes I face some errors, depending on the network and setup. It's not a big issue.
Improvement wise, for the user it should show the minimum features on the screen and not all the features. Toad has a lot of features, but most users will use only 5 or 10 based on their role. Nobody needs all the features, and they should provide the option to choose only the required features. Only minimum requirements should be enabled by default. When all the features are shown, the performance is not good; it loads slowly and has hundreds of popups and unnecessary questions. If they could provide some basic instructions performance wise and list which settings will achieve the best performance or make it more user friendly, then it would help new users and old users alike.
Toad for Oracle could improve code completion, it is very slow. When you type and code completion is on, you'll have to wait for up to 10 seconds while Toad looks in the database to list suggestions for table and field names.

I honestly cannot think of any at the moment. I am sure there are some, however, I use it every day. Any issues tend to be few and far between. Once in a while, I may encounter a memory exception and have to abort the application. On a few occasions, the file that stores the saved connections for the New Connection window will become corrupt and I will lose all of my saved connections. I am not sure if that is a Windows or TOAD issue, but it has happened to all of my developers at some point or another. The incident rate is only about once every 6 months, so that makes it more palatable.

Sometimes if there's a crash, there are unsaved files that need to be recovered. Although this list is shown when you restart, I find this difficult to use. There should also be a better "cancel query" option as sometimes one cancels a query, but then it still might run for a long time, and then one has to crash Toad in order to cancel the query. After all these years of downloading the product, I still find the product download form a bit challenging and one needs to know to click on the Download Now checkbox so that one can download without choosing manuals, etc. I think that this form should be redesigned. As with so many other tools and suppliers, I believe that long term users should get better maintenance pricing.
The price of this solution should be reduced. I like SQL Server Management Studio a lot so it has been hard to justify the cost for TOAD. However, if it is anything like the Oracle version, it is light years ahead. The way the dialog boxes appear can be a little bit inconvenient. However, I am sure I will adapt - it is not a huge issue.

I would like to see an improvement in the performance because opening the browser and the editor should be faster. The limit of 100,000 lines when parsing trace files is not always enough, and I would like to see the limit increased.
There is not a lot to be improved in Toad. I am not using the newest version because the older version works almost all the time. It is a limitation already defined because of performance or coding. It does not kill the session but it forces a restart because processes hang. This may have been fixed in later versions. One thing I would like to see improved is the log files. If they can tell whenever there is a failure like a hang, we are not able to understand the log. When we refer to any log file we do it for more analysis to find the exact cause and pinpoint the debugging. To know exactly why Toad has hanged or failed so we can research it out in the log file would be really helpful. Then we know what the cause is and what we should not be doing.
With Toad for Oracle, you'll reduce costs and risks by easily ensuring the health and performance of your Oracle Cloud Platform and on-premises databases. ... On the operations side, you can automate administration tasks and proactively manage your databases while embracing performance optimization and risk mitigation.

There could be a tool for automated SQL query functioning.
