Hi,
We all know that it's important to conduct a trial / POC as part of the buying process.
Do you have any advice for your peers about the best way to conduct an XDR trial or POC? How do you suggest conducting this trial effectively?
What should be taken into consideration and are there any mistakes to avoid?
I would start with the qualifications before jumping into a trial.
What is your organization looking for? Do you want to manage XDR with your own staff (do you have the technical expertise given the complexity of effective XDR?); are you already using a security ecosystem (McAfee, Fortinet, FireEye, if you use an MSSP, etc) that this needs to integrate with; are you considering a managed service (such as MDR); how price sensitive are you? As you lay out all of the critical factors this will narrow your search down considerably.
Let's say you have narrowed your choices down to three vendors (can't imagine needing to look at more than that based on compatibility after settling on requirements), then reach out to those vendors and get a small trial going that allows you to compare the features that are most important to you.
Do not let the vendor write the requirements. Ask them how they are superior to other vendors (do not name the contenders or you will be tipping your hand).
Whether you run your own agents or use a managed service, it is important that your security staff is involved in the analysis and vetting process.
Hi @Michal Sabat, @Matt Back, @AndyChan3 and @Ken Shaurette,
You've shown the XDR expertise earlier. Can you please share some recommendations with the community?
Thank you!
