Our organization ran comparison tests to determine whether Mcafee's MVision ePO or ePolicy Orchestrator network security software was the better fit for us. We decided to go with Mcafee's ePolicy Orchestrator. This solution offers network security controls that are centralized for ease of use. From a single interface, administrators have the ability to control the entirety of the program’s management suite. This saves precious time. The dashboard also allows users to view all of the metrics and other data that the system collects. Administrators are able to easily compare data from different portions of the program. A single person can now analyze and collect data while at the same time managing the system. This will save resources that can now be conserved or directed elsewhere.
The program also offers an event-tracking feature. When a potential issue arises, the system will immediately flag it and notify the system administrator. This information allows users to make informed decisions. If, in fact, the issue that was just reported poses a threat, then the IP address can be logged in the system as a threat. However, the reverse is also true. If it turns out that what was reported was a false positive, then Mcafee's ePolicy Orchestrator will allow you to mark the IP address as being safe. The system will now automatically ignore that IP. This will save you time, as there will be fewer false positives for you to investigate.
Mcafee's MVision ePO also offers a central control panel from which the whole system can be managed. This includes any and all devices that this solution is connected to. This time-saving feature makes Mcafee's MVision ePO a valuable product. However, in general, the program is rather difficult for people who do not have an extensive technical background to use. This is a definite drawback.
Conclusion:
While Mcafee's MVision ePO offers a competent product, we preferred to go with ePolicy Orchestrator.
