Leaf and Spine Design Type-2 EVPN

Project Description

"Leaf & Spine L2 Design with VXLAN Overlay networking"

In an L2 Leaf & Spine design or an MLAG design best practice is to keep everything under 10k nodes for scalability and ease of management. The two spines represent a single switch (virtualized <MLAG>) to the TORS switches below. All links in the topology are used for forwarding with no blocking states. With L2 Leaf & Spine Design the rest of the networks connecting to the Spines can be L2/L3 functions, it acts as INTER-VLAN gateway for the rest of the DC networks.

· Benefits of an L2 design it provides a migration process for the Legacy network to the Leaf and Spine design with the minimum reconfiguration of your VLANs.

· The Spine is a L2 MLAG peer and seeing as a single switch to the TORS switches this allows deterministic of L2 paths.

· L2 MLAG design removed L2 loops in your topology as it is a non-blocking state allowing you to utilize all the links plus the benefits of open standard protocols for multivendor deployments.
