This best in class Next-Gen firewall is elegant in its ease-of-use and architecture

What is our primary use case?

For different customers, we use the product in different ways. In some cases, it is going to be an on-premises solution. In some cases, it is going to be a cloud-integrated solution. That is one of the best things about Juniper. We can use a single box and have the same unified policy structure if it is off the cloud or it is on-premises.  

Our primary use case is basically to use it like you would any other firewall. I do not call this a firewall anymore because it has functionality beyond what we traditionally think of as a firewall. Those days are gone where a firewall does just one thing. Today most of the firewall products are station firewalls. You have various options in each firewall station. In terms of comparison, you can compare Juniper with Cisco, with Fortinet, with Palo Alto and other leading products. It depends on what exactly you are planning to have it do.  

What is most valuable?

The most valuable feature for me over-all is that Juniper is simplified and can still do everything that is necessary to be effective. 

On the SRX box, it has what I call a one model concept for security. I work especially with hybrid environments. With an SRX we have a single management dashboard. We can manage the internal framework easily with the centralized management component. You can work with the threat prevention, you can work with the integration, you can work with traffic management. Another good part about SRX is that you have opportunities for automation. Another thing that is very good is that all the operating systems for all Juniper boxes are the same. You do not work on different operating systems using different boxes. 

It does user validation automatically and has automated threat detection and defense. It does threat analytics, which is integrated. So as a single box, it does not just address security, it does not just handle switching, it does not just work as a firewall. It addresses everything.

Best after-sales support, reasonable price, 100% stability, and good security and performance

"It must be 5G ready. The 5G network is rolling out soon in India, and Juniper must upgrade their firewall slot to the 5G network, or they must manufacture a 5G dongle card for the Juniper firewall. I want Juniper to upgrade their dongle from 4G to 5G. Presently, they have an expansion slot in the SRX 322 series and higher firewalls. In that expansion slot, they can put a 4G mobility SIM card so that whenever our primary link is down, it will automatically connect through this GSM network and form a tunnel."

It is a complete security bundle. The cloud-based Sky Advanced Threat Prevention feature is very valuable.

Good for threat prevention, and offer easy access, setup, configuration, and connection

Normal use cases like policy creation, infrastructure setup, VPNs, and general firewall functionality. 

How has it helped my organization?

If a company uses the SRX firewall, they don't need additional security measures to control cyberattacks. The firewall is enough to contain them.

At our company, we use the Juniper SRX Series Firewall for customers in the banking sector. 

What is most valuable?

The complete security bundle, powerful routing and USB blocking applications are the most valuable features of Juniper SRX Series Firewall. The solution effortlessly integrates with other third-party products. 

The product has been recently acquired by Hewlett-Packard enterprise. Juniper Firewalls and switches always support AI-powered and ML technologies. Juniper SRX Series Firewall is user-friendly for the end-users as well as the integrators.

Good encryption algorithm that helps with efficient network traffic encryption but doesn't provide UTM solutions

What is our primary use case?

We use it for our IPsec VPN and for IT security and have enabled encryption on the network traffic. We use 128-bit encryption.

How has it helped my organization?

We have a very small branch office firewall, and enabling security features would degrade our traffic performance. That's why we only use IPsec VPN.

For example, we have not enabled threat management capabilities in Juniper.

Useful telecom industry functionality, simple deployment, but lacking features

In the past, I believed that Juniper SRX was superior, but after seeing the advancements in the FTD platform, Cisco has better functionality. I have not recently explored Juniper SRX's next-generation firewall capabilities as we only use basic firewall filtering in our enterprise network."

What is our primary use case?

We are using Juniper SRX for general protection. We are not using those next-generation features, we are using them as layer 4 protection only.

On the enterprise side, we are currently only using traditional firewalling and do not have extreme-level features, such as IPS or UTM. This is because the team overseeing this area has been handed over to us in the last few years.

When we were doing the migration from the CRBV to ERV ports, at that particular time, we were working on the Juniper SRX.

What is most valuable?

The IPS functionality of Juniper SRX is useful in the telecom industry.

We are a solution provider and we work closely with our clients to identify their requirements, and then we suggest a solution. Once they accept it, we implement it. The Juniper SRX is one of the models that our clients have chosen.
