Quick development enables seamless data processing despite occasional support issues
There were times when the product would fail during development without an apparent reason. The support structure changed; initially, we received great support, however, it later became less reliable due to licensing issues and a tiered support system. Licensing negotiations were problematic, affecting our product usage. For instance, our licenses were temporarily lost during negotiations when an agreement couldn't be reached.

Good forecasting, reporting, and data integrity, but it needs to be more user-friendly
The dashboard could be made easier to use. I think that SAS BA represents an evolution of the product in this regard. I think that this solution should be more compatible with other software, including open-source solutions. If SAS were more flexible in terms of licensing then that would be good, because it costs more than other solutions. I would like to see more flexibility in the interface so that a person at the managerial level can also make use of it in a basic way.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Alteryx helps me do a lot of automation. The best thing about Alteryx is that you don't have to repeat the workflow over and over again. Unlike Excel, where you need to write formulas for each new file, Alteryx follows a consistent process. You can schedule and automate the workflow, even if the files change."
"The most valuable feature of Alteryx is its stand-alone version that we do not have to download dependencies for loads. Additionally, the scan is useful for beginners."
"The product is very stable and super fast, five-star. It's significantly more stable than it's nearest competitor."
"The three data signs and data engineering are great features."
"It is one of the most complete and great customer service that I experienced with a software company/ecosystem."
"The feature that I have found most valuable for Alteryx is its geo-referencing feature, it is very good. I use it a lot, especially for supply chain."
"It is efficient in optimizing our ability to get information."
"Geo features have made spatial mapping large retail universes possible."
"The most valuable features are forecasting and reporting."
"The most valuable feature is its flexibility and the ability to integrate with SAS."

Cons

"There have been some issues with licensing, particularly with the increased prices. This has led some companies, including ours, to consider reducing the number of licenses or potentially discontinuing their use of Alteryx."
"It should have Linux support. It currently supports only Windows. It does not support any other platform. Its price should also be lower. Their US partner management program is actually unresponsive. One of the reasons why we don't have a formalized partnership plan with them is because their partner management team is atrociously unresponsive. This is something that they need to change."
"Mastering Alteryx, a comprehensive solution, takes time. However, once you have gained proficiency with its layout and how to drag, drop, and connect components, it becomes remarkably easy, yet still thorough."
"I'd like it to be easier to work with PDF."
"The solution can be quite complex in some aspects."
"What they're struggling with is it's not as mature as Tableau in the user management area. It was tougher to manage the server part of it right away, especially since the user base has grown."
"When a process completes there is a notification, but the notification does not include the process's name."
"The event handling, such that the file system watcher, is in need of improvement."
"I think that this solution should be more compatible with other software, including open-source solutions."
"Technical support could be improved because they take too long to answer our queries."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The license price of the solution is expensive."
"We have a yearly cost that we pay for the licensing. We do not pay any costs in addition to the licensing fees."
"A designer and scheduler for $13K/year in total is pretty much earning you the money back in time and in other resources."
"It can be a bit pricey, especially after the first year."
"I rate the solution's pricing as a ten, as it is highly priced."
"The price could be better."
"I rate the tool's pricing a two out of ten."
"We use the free version of the solution. There are enterprise licenses available. It cost approximately $5,000 annually. It is an expensive solution and there are additional features that cost more money."
"If SAS were more flexible in terms of licensing then that would be good, because it costs more than other solutions."
