Has a good UI and drag-and-drop features which makes it easy to understand
There have been some issues with licensing, particularly with the increased prices. This has led some companies, including ours, to consider reducing the number of licenses or potentially discontinuing their use of Alteryx. Since most of our team members work with Alteryx, deploying workflows to clients who may not have licenses became a hurdle. Every user needed a license to run the workflows, which could pose difficulties, especially for clients who only needed occasional access for small data analyses. Unlike other software like Microsoft Power BI, which offers free trials or user licenses for basic functionality, Alteryx doesn't provide such options, potentially limiting its accessibility for occasional users. It should improve scalability.

Good forecasting, reporting, and data integrity, but it needs to be more user-friendly
The dashboard could be made easier to use. I think that SAS BA represents an evolution of the product in this regard. I think that this solution should be more compatible with other software, including open-source solutions. If SAS were more flexible in terms of licensing then that would be good, because it costs more than other solutions. I would like to see more flexibility in the interface so that a person at the managerial level can also make use of it in a basic way.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Alteryx is a low-code platform, and that's the biggest reason why we chose it."
"Alteryx is user-friendly and allows easy creation of workflows compared to Informatica PowerCenter."
"Alteryx helps me do a lot of automation. The best thing about Alteryx is that you don't have to repeat the workflow over and over again. Unlike Excel, where you need to write formulas for each new file, Alteryx follows a consistent process. You can schedule and automate the workflow, even if the files change."
"The drag-and-drop features are useful for data scientists who do not like to code because it is already in the system."
"The solution has a very strong community that is involved in the product. It helps make the usage easier and helps us find answers to our questions."
"Alteryx makes it easy for the end customer to see clean data in a structured form."
"The initial setup is easy."
"The most valuable feature of Alteryx is its performance. It is a powerful solution."
"The most valuable feature is its flexibility and the ability to integrate with SAS."
"The most valuable features are forecasting and reporting."

Cons

"I think they should really work on integrating or have a capacity to integrate some algorithmic code. I think that's one of the most important things they need to be doing."
"If there is any way to make the learning curve less steep, that would be ideal."
"Alteryx can improve in data science. They have to have more features and components in the data science aspect because they claim to be a data science tool. However, in order to be more competitive, they have to improve on their data science propositions. Thre are other solutions on the market, such as other players in the market, Data2Go or DataIQ, and Alteryx needs to catch up."
"It seems to me that it is not always user friendly."
"From a commercial standpoint, more options should be available for pricing. The licensing model needs to be specific."
"The learning curve is long, and there is lack of e-learning; the tool is not user-friendly to a non-technical user."
"There is currently no cloud solution and this would be valuable for many clients."
"The gallery could improve in Alteryx. Additionally, if there was a Conditional Join feature it would be beneficial. Since I do not have this feature I have to use Python scripts."
"I think that this solution should be more compatible with other software, including open-source solutions."
"Technical support could be improved because they take too long to answer our queries."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price could be better."
"The designer license costs 5000 euros. The server edition is 1000 euros."
"The cost of the solution could be reduced."
"It can be a bit pricey, especially after the first year."
"The designer has a list price of $5,995 USD."
"I rate the tool's pricing a two out of ten."
"ROI is huge. There are some secondary benefits, like analysts getting their post 5 PM time back or the ability to shorten all closing processes to a half or less."
"Very transparent."
"If SAS were more flexible in terms of licensing then that would be good, because it costs more than other solutions."
