Quick development enables seamless data processing despite occasional support issues
There were times when the product would fail during development without an apparent reason. The support structure changed; initially, we received great support, however, it later became less reliable due to licensing issues and a tiered support system. Licensing negotiations were problematic, affecting our product usage. For instance, our licenses were temporarily lost during negotiations when an agreement couldn't be reached.

Robust, great for financial decision making, and very scalable
This product really needs to improve its ease of use. The solution needs to do a better job of promoting and marketing itself. Alteryx is much better at this and as a consequence is more recognizable. Trifacta needs to showcase its technology better. It truly should encompass the A to Z execution of how you execute business process modeling in an intelligent automation form. A future release needs to be something that's easier to handle. I wouldn't say a layman should be able to use the solution as data wrangling is something that somebody has got to really be certified in. I have a friend who's worked at IBM for 30 years, and now he's just getting certified as a data scientist. However, if the solution was designed as something that really could assist a new data scientist or kids coming out of college, something that's easier for them to wrap their heads around, that would be helpful. The interface on Trifacta is way too busy. I used to do UX and it's just awful. It looks a little bit like Excel. I can't stand it. The UI of Alteryx is much, much better.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I think the most valuable feature for Alteryx in a health facility is that it permits cleaning, organizing, and merging of databases such as Excel and Access."
"I like the solution's velocity, the speed with which it processes data, and its ease of use."
"Alteryx is user-friendly and allows easy creation of workflows compared to Informatica PowerCenter."
"The product's most valuable features include its ease of use for non-technical users and machine learning capabilities."
"Alteryx is a simple and easy-to-use solution."
"Alteryx significantly reduces the time spent searching for specific information."
"The ease-of-use allows non-technical business users to directly create their own solutions without the use of additional development resources."
"The scheduling within the solution is excellent."
"It works well for data scientists and can really help them drill down on the information in order to give management tangible data points for larger business decisions."

Cons

"It would be great to create the final users' visualization within Alteryx."
"When a process completes there is a notification, but the notification does not include the process's name."
"The scalability worries me a lot at the moment because the cost of the solution is high and it is not growing considerably. Unfortunately, we started during early COVID times and because of the economic downturn, all the cost cuttings, and everything, it is not growing as expected."
"There have been some issues with licensing, particularly with the increased prices. This has led some companies, including ours, to consider reducing the number of licenses or potentially discontinuing their use of Alteryx."
"The principal problem is the pricing. They're expensive products."
"We can't browse multiple files. When we deploy a solution on a gallery, let's say I have ten different files, and I have to upload them all at once. This is something that's difficult in the gallery. So case by case, I see some downsides, but often we do something alternative."
"The tool could include more native connectors, such as for global ERPs, instead of requiring additional fees for these connections."
"The solution can be quite complex in some aspects."
"This product really needs to improve its ease of use."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"We use the free version of the solution. There are enterprise licenses available. It cost approximately $5,000 annually. It is an expensive solution and there are additional features that cost more money."
"The license is really expensive, we cannot afford to have two or three. It takes away all the budget of my area."
"Alteryx is generally more suited for medium—to large companies due to its potentially high licensing costs."
"The cost of Alteryx is approximately $2,900 annually."
"It's very expensive. I'd rate it a four out of ten in terms of the price. It's great for big companies but not for small companies."
"Alteryx is an expensive solution."
"A designer and scheduler for $13K/year in total is pretty much earning you the money back in time and in other resources."
"It is $4,000 a year, so it is cheap versus other solutions. It also accomplishes three times the volume on the job in the same time (as the other solutions)."
