It has customization features, lets you do network redirects via the DNS, and is stable and scalable
An area for improvement in AppSense is pricing because it's much higher than Citrix and VMware solutions. It's one of the virtualization software that allows user profile virtualization, but you can also find that capability in the lower-priced VMware and Citrix software. AppSense has many features but is more expensive, so it would be better if it had a reduced cost or the solution had more enhanced capabilities. For example, in group policies, you can maintain the redirections and registry settings through the group policy via PolicyPak, another third-party product for managing the group policy. If AppSense could have a configuration similar to what PolicyPak has, then that would make AppSense better. AppSense is OS-based, so when my company purchased it in the past, it could run on Windows 7. Eventually, Ivanti told my company that it no longer supported Windows 7, so my company had to purchase AppSense for Windows 10. In the future, the new version of AppSense should work on different Windows versions.

User-friendly, reasonably priced, and simple to install
It can be challenging to assess the stability of Horizon because it relies heavily on the underlying infrastructure, including vCenter, network, and storage performance. It is important to pay attention to these factors when evaluating the stability of the system. We rely on vCenter, network, and storage performance, and any weakness in these areas will affect the performance of Horizon. When discussing this with customers, I always emphasize the importance of these factors. If the foundation is solid, Horizon should not experience any performance issues. If the fundamentals are weak, we will encounter issues with Horizon on a regular basis. However, the product itself, VMware Horizon, is highly stable. While the Horizon product itself is very stable, it is important to be well-informed about any potential side effects from using other related products.

Pros

"I like the customization features of AppSense. It also allows you to push DNS settings, so if you want to redirect a network using the DNS, you can do that from AppSense, which I find beneficial."
"The most valuable feature of VMware Horizon is the VDI service, which helps externals use their own devices while keeping the data inside our data center."
"We use VMware Horizon to digitalize environments."
"The product helped us deploy complex applications."
"The console is straightforward and easy to understand for the end user. It can be deployed on any device, including iPads and Mac OS. Users can access their daily applications and resources provided by the VMware Horizon environment from any device."
"We can stop the end user from taking data out of the desktops."
"The solution includes good user profiles and policies."
"The solution is seamless and easy to use."
"It is a stable solution. It is wonderful for multi-user environments, and it supports different virtual machines and operating systems. You can go for any kind of virtual machine. It has many features, especially for a call center. You don't have the issue of computers going down from time to time. You just need to copy the virtual machine to deploy it. You also don't need many people to maintain computers. With Horizon 7, you just need one or two people."

Cons

"An area for improvement in AppSense is pricing because it's much higher than Citrix and VMware solutions. In the future, the new version of AppSense should work on different Windows versions."
"We have limited capabilities since we are not using a multi-instance solution, just single instances. The solution underutilizes its capabilities."
"I would like to see more useful monitoring within users and a more useful help desk."
"The product's initial setup process could be easier."
"They need to make troubleshooting, diagnostics, and error reporting a little better."
"The majority of things in VMware Horizon can be done only in Windows and not in Linux. There are Linux customers who would like to use VMware Horizon's features."
"There is room for improvement in security features."
"The solution’s stability and initial setup could be improved."
"There are some issues with RAM in the system."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I would rate AppSense pricing as six out of ten because it's an expensive product, and the organization won't buy if it only requires limited configuration."
"We have a three-year contract, for which we pay about ten euros per user per month."
"Horizon 7 is cheaper than some competitors, like Citrix, because it includes solutions for the server side, the VDI side, and the hypervisor side."
"The solution's pricing depends on certain factors. It would be best if you know which components you are looking for, as you may have other hardware costs. It is recommended if users want to use the VMware HPE as the hypervisor."
"I don't know about the price. I know there are different tiers with the license, but I'm not sure exactly what it costs anymore."
"There are different editions available at different cost points."
"The product is extremely expensive."
"It falls on the more expensive end in terms of cost."
"It is an expensive product. We purchase its yearly license."
