Feature-rich stable tool with multiple options to control output, good integration with other tools, and knowledgeable support team
The core functionality of the tool is automated test generation of optimized test suite; the tool has extensive list of options for the same. The product's integration with other tools sets it apart. It has integrations with many upstream (for requirements mapping) and downstream (export of test cases to various tools) products. It is like "plug-and-play". For any customized downstream tool, like our proprietary automation framework, support is provided for custom development. It is has features - Business AD - to use in Agile implementations. The latest version seems to have support for BDD/Gherkin as well, which we have not used much.

Has transformed testing by reducing scripting effort and enhancing productivity with advanced features
The self-healing feature of Tricentis Tosca needs significant improvement. Currently, it is static and not dynamic. For example, if a button in an application changes, Tricentis Tosca should be smart enough to detect the change and still execute the script seamlessly. Improvements are needed to ensure it responds dynamically to changes in the application.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Though optimized and automated test generation is the core functionality, the product's integration with other tools sets it apart."
"The tool has the ability to integrate with various requirement management, test management, and version control tools."
"The most valuable features of Tricentis Tosca are the ease of use, you do not need to program if you do not want to."
"You can quickly build automated testing, manage it, and have it run on a regular basis to ensure that there are no issues."
"We are satisfied with the support of Tricentis."
"Multiple scanning engines to automate many different applications."
"We have multiple applications, and it supports parallel execution. It has mobile automation."
"The product enables codeless automation."
"Good use in Agile workshops, where the person needs to conceptualize the tests before the developer provides the complete application interface."
"The initial setup isn't too difficult."

Cons

"Even though the 4.1 version is a far-improved version from its earlier avatars, the performance of test generation is still an issue on real-time models we have."
"It would be helpful to have a feature in the tool's UI to map object locators within the system."
"I would like to see the output data optionally used as input for the model, as further action in the flow."
"It would be of great help if they can fix the loading or performance issues. Sometimes, when I create the test case folder and test cases, it feels like it has loading or performance issues. When passing the objects, we can't sometimes find the exact element. We need to find out that exact location and just give the path for that, and then it works. In the pipeline, when creating Jenkins, we create the list execution for passing the execution list to the commander. I feel it is a bit late, by a fraction of seconds. I first thought it could be my mistake or a setting issue, but I worked on that, and it's not a mistake or a setting issue."
"It is quite difficult to integrate the solution with other tools."
"I have found that some of the functions could be missed in the solution for new users. They are not obviously present."
"Making it more stable would be good because we get around 90% stability."
"With regard to areas of improvement, report customization should be easier. It would be good if Tosca could provide standard reports for at least 20 variants. At present, there are only three to four variants. The mobile engine needs to be faster and easier to use; it is a bit cumbersome. Also, the object identification in the mobile engine needs improvement. I would like to see easy-to-use customizations for reports in the next release."
"The Test Management options are still weak - improvement is outlined, but not yet visible. I"
"The product needs to improve its pricing. It also needs to improve the infrastructure and DEX agent setup."
"A disadvantage of Tricentis Tosca is that you have to customize it according to your need, during the early stages of the software, particularly during upstream testing, before system and unit testing."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"There is an annual cost for Tricentis."
"Expensive, but for long-term projects, it is paying back."
"If you are purchasing less than five licenses, then the pricing is high. On a scale from one to ten, with one being low and ten being high pricing, I would rate this solution at eight."
"The licensing cost for Tricentis Tosca is expensive. It has multiple features, but to use all of its features, you have to pay for additional licenses."
"I rate the price of Tricentis Tosca a two out of five."
"Tricentis Tosca may be relatively on the higher side in terms of pricing, but their sales rep can give pretty decent deals when asked."
"My understanding is that it's an expensive product, although I don't know the specifics with regards to pricing."
"Pricing could be better."
