Room For Improvement

The system faces usability, compatibility, and performance issues, with improvements needed in documentation, support, scalability, and integration features.
Enhancements in documentation, user-friendliness, scalability, security, cloud integration, and support are desired improvements for Redis.
There are no dropdown options, and I have to manually enter the key and its value to retrieve any specific document, so adding some toggles or dropdowns would be an improvement.
Software Development Engineer at a tech services company with 10,001+ employees
What is missing is that they have a new version, Couchbase Mobile three, but they haven't really updated or provided help or documentation about what needs to change to update to the latest mobile version.
Chief Executive Officer at Lister Studios
I would like Couchbase to provide more functionality via the UI, as some operations, such as time-based scaling, currently require using the API.
Fractional CTO at Tassei Tech
Data persistence and recovery face issues with compatibility across major versions, making upgrades possible but downgrades not active.
Data Engineer at a photography company with 1,001-5,000 employees

Setup Cost

Couchbase Enterprise is cost-effective with flexible licensing, though some find it expensive compared to open-source options.
Redis's open-source core is cost-effective, but enterprise features require a license; managed services start at $5/month.
They did update, and since then, I haven't had any problems anymore.
Chief Executive Officer at Lister Studios
Setup costs and licensing have been reasonable when comparing the services offered.
Senior Associate Technology L2 at a media company with 10,001+ employees
It can range between 25,000 to 40,000 Euros per year depending on company requirements.
Fractional CTO at Tassei Tech
Since we use an open-source version of Redis, we do not experience any setup costs or licensing expenses.
Data Engineer at a photography company with 1,001-5,000 employees

Valuable Features

Couchbase Enterprise offers fast retrieval, high availability, and user-friendly features, enhancing performance and supporting complex data with minimal downtime.
Redis provides fast data access with caching, geolocation, JSON, and supports scalability, high availability, and efficient event-driven applications.
We measured those improvements based on production logs, identifying that a microservice which originally took around six seconds now takes 800 milliseconds, a great optimization noticed by customers, especially during traffic spikes where the response to requests was significantly faster compared to the earlier case of six seconds.
Senior Associate Technology L2 at a media company with 10,001+ employees
The most valuable features of Couchbase include the key-value storage due to its speed and the multi-master capability, which provides more speed and scalability compared to master-slave databases.
Fractional CTO at Tassei Tech
Working on a telecom project, we migrated the core logic of the application from SQL persistent database to Couchbase Enterprise, which decreased the application's latency by 70 to 80%, attracting high-profile clients and significantly boosting revenue.
Software Engineer at Mobileum
It functions similarly to a foundational building block in a larger system, enabling native integration and high functionality in core data processes.

Effortless synchronization and reliable performance streamline everyday operations
It just works. I used other products and they didn't do what Couchbase does. It works out of sight once everything is set up. When the user makes changes on their list in the app on their mobile phone, it syncs straight away. If there's an internet interruption, it resumes as soon as internet is available. I didn't have to do anything as a developer. It's great because it's very different from MySQL where you have to update tables. With document type databases, you just say there's a new element in your document, and that's fine. It's really good to use.

Performance shines with seamless session caching and minimal configuration
The best features of Redis, from my personal perspective, are the performance, which is very quick, and it's very simple to implement. Since I started using Redis, I feel that the product is saving me some performance tuning time. It's very easy, I have few parameters to tune, and it seems to have performance without a lot of working on the performance, compared to Cassandra, where you have to configure the memory and many other settings. The integration capability of Redis is excellent. Redis is very affordable because it's free.
