Easily visualize your environment's performance and forecast its capacity
Our company uses the solution for forecasting capacity and performance via cloud visualization that is maintained by Dell.  The solution is a maintenance tool that is used by our storage and backup teams to view PowerScale and our cloud.  The tool for forecasting capacity is valuable.  PowerScale…

Reduced our administration and rack space significantly, with everything in one box
Nutanix is a great product, but I won't say it is a data center product. If it could leverage or work with non-Nutanix infrastructure, it would be a total data center solution. Right now, with Prism Central, we can only manage Nutanix clusters. If we were able to manage the whole data center from the single pane of glass, it would be more helpful. I think that would help all customers. Also, Nutanix Flow for microsegmentation is limited right now to AHV clusters, meaning only Nutanix clusters. If it could integrate with all my infrastructure, I would have a pane of glass where I could manage my whole data center, including microsegmentation. They really need to extend its features beyond the Nutanix infrastructure. That is the one thing I would really like to see improvement on.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Fewer vulnerabilities have been observed in the four years we have used the solution."
"Mobile application is the most valuable feature for us. We can monitor all the storages on our phones. It's really good."
"The best thing about this solution is that you can check for the infrastructure and system updates that you might need to be compliant with the Cloud."
"It's convenient because you can access it from a mobile device without needing a laptop."
"The tool for forecasting capacity is valuable."
"Has really nice roll-up dashboards."
"Because in my role I create a lot of reports, it is very handy to be able to show the customer, "This is your cluster. At the moment, you are using this much CPU, this much RAM, and this much storage." I can give them information on what they're using, how many VMs, and the amount of data they're using."
"The most valuable feature is the solution's single-pane-of-glass approach to consolidating all of the various metrics and interfaces that I would typically have to access via multiple screens in other products. The ease of use would probably be the single biggest selling point."
"It is stable and reliable."
"Has a user-friendly UI with a centralized console."
"The GUI and the dashboard are impressive. I like that you can modify the GUI and the dashboard as per your requirements."
"Nutanix Prism's dashboard is very simple, and you don't need much knowledge to use it."
"Aside from ease of use, scalability is one of the key points of this solution."
"Before implementing Prism, we had an issue with too many alerts for similar issues, so it was difficult to maintain them. The alerts kept coming, and we had a hard time keeping track of everything. We had multiple alerts about CPU, RAM, and storage. Prism helps us identify and eliminate false alerts because most of them were redundant."

Cons

"In terms of improvement, they should enhance the product range."
"Getting through support has become a difficult thing. Dell's support has degraded since they took over EMC. It's a bit difficult to use."
"The reporting capabilities of this solution could be improved."
"Doesn't do well in terms of integrating with technologies other than Dell."
"PowerScale is the only file system offered and that is limiting."
"Supporting legacy systems is an area that can be improved."
"There can be some constraints on how it scales, making granular scaling difficult with the product."
"Although this solution has very good analytics capabilities, it can be even more granular."
"I would like to have some cluster management tools included."
"The automation needs to be improved, as there are several challenges."
"They don't have many organized documents for troubleshooting problems. If you look at the support portal or the website, you will not get detailed information about problems or redirection to more information. They should continue working on the software solution but enlarge the documentation."
"The pricing could be improved."
"The price could be improved."
"Nutanix Prism needs more flexibility commercially and more flexibility with their licensing. Currently they're very fixed on their licensing model, for example, it's based on terabyte calculation."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The solution is more expensive than NetApp which offers file systems in various price ranges."
"I believe it is a free product because we don't pay for it."
"This product is cheaper than using VMware."
"Prism is cheaper compared to competitors like Cisco HyperFlex or HP vSAN."
"The license for Prism is costlier than other VMs."
"The pricing was decent, average. It wasn't a Black Friday sale, but it was good."
"The good thing about Nutanix Prism is that we don't have to pay for a hypervisor, but their licensing cost is a little bit on the high side."
"Compared to VMware, the price of this solution is great."
"Nutanix Prism is affordable. It depends on the category of license you select. They have multiple options, and we selected the one that was suitable for our infrastructure and requirements. The licensing model worked for us."
"The licensing is fairly high in price. If someone can get over the fact that the licensing is fairly expensive, I would say Nutanix is the way to go. It is expensive, but to me, it's worth it."
