Can identify issues in real-time, is affordable, but requires specialists to deploy
DX SaaS was developed to address the growing complexity of telephony systems. In the past, telephone connections were simple, and people only had desk phones or simple PSTMs. However, with the advent of IP telephony, connecting PSTN with IP telephony, and adding software and mobile devices to the mix, the entire telephony system became more intricate. Additionally, people from different parts of the world were speaking on this combination of PSTN and GCP IP networks, which created challenges in ensuring that the entire end-to-end chain was functioning correctly. If there were any issues, it was difficult to determine whether the problem was with the user's device, modem, internet provider, or elsewhere. The product I was working with was beneficial because it allowed people to identify and troubleshoot problems in the entire telephony stack. The old Mitel network experts could address issues throughout the system and ensure that everything was functioning properly.

Enables users to forward logs to a centralized location and intuitive dashboard functionality
The real problem we were facing was that we were unable to get all of our logs into a single place. We have an on-premise application with multiple servers across different data centers, and we needed to be able to view all of the logs together in order to troubleshoot any problems. That's why we started using Splunk to forward all of our logs to a single location. Moreover, Splunk APM gives us end-to-end visibility across our entire on-premise environment. Another biggest benefit I've seen is the ability to quickly identify problems using Splunk alerting. We set up alerts against our application metrics, and this has helped us to resolve major issues much sooner. We can now identify problems as soon as they occur, which gives us time to take corrective action before they impact our users. Splunk has reduced the amount of time our operations team spends investigating problems. This has freed up our engineers to focus on other tasks, such as improving our application performance and adding new features.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"DX allows you to customize and gives you a high degree of control."
"It supports numerous platforms."
"Actionable insight is the most valuable feature."
"It is a good tool. It allows you to set alerts for application and infrastructure monitoring, and it allows you to create dashboards."
"The volume it handles is very good, including the number of metrics, the volume number of traces, and more."
"This solution is very quick to deploy as it is a SaaS solution and integrates with tools like ServiceNow."
"The product's deployment phase is good and very easy because it is done with OpenTelemetry for most of the parts."
"The most beneficial aspect of Slunk APM is the ATM, which is the map displaying the inbound and outbound relationships of the microservices, as well as the traffic between these dependencies. This feature provides us with valuable insights and helps us understand the interactions between different microservices."
"The features are pretty much ready out of the box."
"I like the fact that Splunk APM makes it easy to connect to the application database and run queries against the data."
"The features are pretty much ready out of the box."

Cons

"The ability to scale presents a challenge as the cost of handling vast amounts of data in the cloud must be taken into account."
"Old user interface and dashboards could be improved."
"DX SaaS is a latecomer to the APM market. Some things that are straightforward in Dynatrace are complicated in DX. For example, upgrading the agents is a seamless process in Dynatrace, but it's a pain in DX SaaS. You should be able to upgrade in the Application Command Center. However, it is not working correctly."
"Once you see the issues related to the scalability part, you need to understand that it is a warning triangle. After seeing the warning triangle, you need to realize that you cannot trust any of the numbers you see in the chart because it is not a complete, full data set."
"Splunk APM's performance could be improved - at the moment, it's very slow and takes forever to give me what I want."
"The monitoring of workloads when using SignalFx could be improved."
"They can improve the flow system and the keyword language. It has predefined keywords, but they can be improved."
"It is essential for the monitoring tool to deliver quick response times when generating analytical reports, instead of prolonged delays."
"We currently lack log analysis capabilities in Splunk APM."
"I've been using the Splunk query language, and it can be a bit time-consuming to set up the queries I need."
"The licensing model is expensive. We need to monitor the amount of data ingested because the cost is based on the data collected."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Our monthly cost for DX SaaS is approximately $5 per user, which I considered affordable."
"Splunk offers a 14-day free trial and after that, we have to pay but the cost is reasonable."
"Splunk APM is a very cost-efficient solution."
"The price of Slunk APM is less than some of its competitors."
"The pricing is reasonable."
