We can automate event-based handling solutions, is stable, and is great for heavy traffic
The solution has very heavy features. Similar to when we get an app, usually, it's less than what we want. When we send all our logs over to the analyzer, it almost crashed on the first try. We must first get our logs tuned up and then set up the Fortinet FortiAnalyzer or it will crash. This is very complicated and heavy work for such a simple task, and it's a big issue for that app. The setup of the solution can be improved because it is currently complex. The cost of the solution is high and can be improved.

The visibility and analytics from Securonix SIEM have become indispensable in identifying and stopping potential threats before they escalate.
We use Securonix Next-Gen SIEM primarily for managed SOC, focusing on threat detection, baselining, and ensuring the maturity of our SOC security operations.  It is integrated with threat intelligence and utilizes frameworks like MITRE ATT&CK and the Cyber Kill Chain.  The solution helps in threat…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The interface is simple and easy to navigate."
"Provides detailed log reports"
"With Fortinet FortiAnalyzer, it is easy to get reports and read specific logs."
"We like the fact that we can run minute-by-minute reporting form this solution."
"Many of my clients are financial institutions that transmit files from around the country across a VPN. In a setup like this, it's helpful to have a centralized dashboard to manage firewalls and other security solutions across a distributed environment. You can do all sorts of analysis and configure it to trigger alarms."
"The solution is very easy to deploy."
"We use the solution for enterprise firewalls, URL filtering, and SD-WAN."
"It is very stable and reliable."
"We ingest billions of logs without worrying about resource allocation."
"One of the most valuable features it has is the thread chaining. One of the common issues that we always had was the number of anomalies that we used to get and the number of alerts that we used to get. But with this approach of thread chaining, we've found the false-positive rate has decreased very significantly. That was something that we never could have achieved before."
"The user interface is easy to learn and navigate."
"The UEBA functionality indicates a lot about behaviors that are not found through a traditional SIEM. We have exploited that more than anything since we started using it."
"The detection of threats and reduction of false positive alarms as compared to other solutions are valuable features. It has improved threat detection response and reduced a lot of noise from false positives as compared to our previous SIEM solutions."
"The feature that I have found most valuable is their analytics platform where they have the open security data-link, which they introduced. This is typically different from the other vendors."
"There aren't any positive aspects of the solution. It was a complete failure. There are no redeeming features."
"One of the most valuable features is the integration of all types of data sources to extract relevant information regarding events. It is a good solution when it comes to the correlations that it makes within all the data handled in our company."

Cons

"The FortiAnalyzer is not scalable."
"From my point of view, at this time, the solution isn't lacking any features or functionalities."
"We would like to see some improvement on the upgrade process around this solution. There are sometimes communication issues when a new version of the firewall is implemented, and it fails to report back to this product."
"The technical support takes at least two days to reply on any ticket post raised on their website."
"Our organization wants the solution to be able to provide us access to a centralized dashboard that displays a log view for all firewalls under Fortinet FortiAnalyzer."
"I need some improvements in the support team since it is an area where there are certain shortcomings."
"Fortinet FortiAnalyzer is not in the cloud environment like some of the other products. There could be a possibility of extending its functionality to the cloud environment. If possible, they could have a deal with or integrate with other firewall manufacturers, like Palo Alto and Cisco, and mix the information. It is a difficult functionality. I don't know if any product in the market provides such functionality."
"If Fortinet could introduce some firewalling or maybe FortiAnalyzer on the cloud, that would be interesting because I've never seen it on a cloud."
"There is slight room for improvement in terms of the initial deployment. What I see is that Securonix is more focused on their product. They are expanding, in a big way, the number of customers. So there has to be a number of dedicated teams to jump on and speed up the deployment process."
"The pricing. I'm not sure how they are proceeding with the identity based pricing compared with DB pricing which most of the vendors are using today."
"It takes too long to generate Spotter reports. For example, a 90-day report is around 100 megabytes. That takes a while, but a one-day report can be generated in a few seconds. We would be happy if they sped up the process."
"One of the things they can improve on a little bit is the usability side, to make some things simpler... The tool does have a lot of knobs, you can turn a lot of things on and off and you can change things. Sometimes, it can become a little overwhelming. They should remove some confirmation options and make it simpler for the less mature customers and people who are still trying to grasp it."
"Regarding the analysis of security events on the SOC side, Securonix Next-Gen SIEM needs to improve its automation capabilities."
"Parsing needs to be improved. Every time we integrate a new, specific data source, we face a lot of problems in parsing, even for the old data source."
"A helpful feature would be an event export. A way to create more substantial summary reports would be nice."
"The analytics-driven approach for finding sophisticated threats and reducing false positives is positive and good, but the platform requires a more dynamic concept. Everything is a bit static."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Its worth spending on FortiAnalyzer if you have multiple firewalls in your network."
"The cost and pricing should be in accordance with the calculation of log storage capacity for a time period required for historical analysis."
"The pricing model is subscription-based."
"I do not know the price of Fortinet FortiAnalyzer. I did not pay for it, but I know the price of other Fortinet products. They are not cheap. I am from Poland. We have Zloty, not Euro, so for us, everything is expensive."
"Its price is okay for us. Fortinet products are cheaper than other solutions."
"When comparing with other solutions such as Checkpoint and Cisco, Fortinet is priced well."
"The product's prices are a bit higher than the other solutions available in the market, but I would say that the tool's quality and support are areas that are good."
"The pricing is reasonable."
"I rate the pricing an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is very expensive. It is a pretty expensive tool."
"The pricing is fine compared to the market but I think that at some point the competitors will catch up on price."
"The solution's price is double the competitors."
"We have an annual license. We pay $200,000 for the base licensing and we pay another $50,000 for the software as a service."
"We have a license from our 5.0, so that license just continued. We paid them the extra cloud-hosting costs for a year which were about $300,000."
"We went in on a three-year agreement which has an annual licensing fee, based upon the number of people that we're monitoring. There have not been any additional costs to the standard licensing fees."
"I had heard that it was much cheaper than Splunk and some of the other tools, and they gave us a nice package with support. They accommodated the number of users and support very well."
"Its pricing is quite similar to others and is very competitive. The other solutions have different types of licensing, but when you do the math, it is competitive."
