Enhanced network management and good performance with vital IMC features

Has delivered reliable performance over the years but still needs improvements in advanced networking features
I generally recommend Ubiquiti UniFi Switches for medium-sized corporate clients, as most of them don't mind the brand as long as the system works. With major corporate clients, they still have the mentality that Cisco is superior in the market, but medium-sized clients are easier to deploy at that level. Ubiquiti UniFi Switches are improving technically since my last implementation. Our field engineers report significant improvements, and I was involved in Kenya's last general elections where we used Ubiquiti equipment, both wireless and switching, which performed excellently. My assessment of Ubiquiti UniFi Switches' centralized management is that, while I haven't interacted with it extensively, it works similarly to Cisco and Meraki platforms. Field engineers should be able to provide better answers regarding this feature. The port isolation feature on Ubiquiti UniFi Switches is standard, which I believe is appropriate considering they provide standard security features on the port.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"H3C Ethernet Switches have a fast delivery time."
"The best feature of H3C Ethernet Switches is their reliability."
"We can configure the switch stack on the internet. Other vendors do not offer this facility. It is fast and easy to manage."
"The IMC feature is valuable."
"Offering a five-year warranty, compared to competitors' one-year warranties, is a unique advantage of H3C switches."
"Network performance is very good, suggesting that stability has not been an issue."
"A good high-performance solution."
"H3C Ethernet Switches is a cheap solution."
"Ubiquiti UniFi Switches are stable and support Layer 3. They come with a user-friendly interface. If you're not familiar with the command-line interface or you wouldn't like to configure it by using the command line, they have a user-friendly interface that you can use. They also have good documentation about how to use these switches."
"The most valuable feature of UniFi Switches is the simple management via the UniFi console."
"Ubiquiti's network management and the way you can manage many different devices on a network are really nice."
"The interface and the duality are the solution's most valuable features."
"The GUI interface is very easy to use and the Linux-based command-line interface is also good."
"The most valuable feature of Ubiquiti UniFi Switches is that once you buy them, you own them."
"These switches are very simple to use and the GUI is very nice."
"Because it's a managed switch, I have the ability to set controls and configure traffic priorities, VLAN ports, etc."

Cons

"There is room for improvement in Wi-Fi solutions, which are not optimized."
"The solution’s stability could be improved."
"GUI needs to merge with CLI."
"Lacks decent cloud management."
"The only improvement needed is the significantly better lead time for delivery compared to other American products. In terms of technology, there isn't much difference, especially since X3 is a subsidiary of XP, and they use the same technology. However, the delivery time is notably better."
"There should be more public tools for configuration and comparing products."
"To enhance H3C switches for the next release, improving the user interface is crucial."
"There is room for improvement in Wi-Fi solutions, which are not optimized."
"I face issues sometimes when two switches or APs are installed next to each other, leading to speed problems."
"I'd like there to be better reporting for the solution."
"Ubiquiti tends to end-of-life things faster than other companies do. Cisco tends to be in the 8-, 10-, 12-year time frame, and Ubiquiti tends to be in the 4- or 5-year time frame."
"To use Ubiquiti UniFi Switches, a controller needs to be installed on a device."
"The support is pretty much email-based and that's horrible for an enterprise product. I can't call anybody right away."
"Ubiquiti's technical support can be rated between seven and ten. They have a large customer base that sometimes faces issues due to a lack of know-how in managing the devices."
"The management of this product needs to be improved."
"They can improve the visibility of networks to match Meraki switches, which have good visibility tools to go through the network. In a Meraki device, you get a clear picture when using the bug interface. You can also see its neighbors and have a clear picture of all connected devices. Ubiquiti UniFi Switches do not have such features that Meraki switches provide."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is very affordable, making it a not-so-expensive choice. On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I would rate it a seven."
"H3C Ethernet Switches are reasonably priced."
"H3C Ethernet Switches are priced at around $500 per unit, which is very cheap and one of the most competitive prices out there."
"H3C Ethernet Switches is targeted for SMBs because it's cheaper compared to Huawei switches."
"I rate the pricing an eight on a scale of one to ten, where one is cheap, and ten is expensive."
"The price of Ubiquiti UniFi Switches is really good. We have deployed a few Ubiquiti UniFi Switches in New Zealand, and they are a value for money. They are cheaper and stable, but if you have the budget, I would recommend Meraki switches."
"Ubiquiti UniFi Switches is one of the most cost-effective solutions in the market"
"The price is good, and it doesn't require additional licenses."
"Ubiquiti is very reasonable."
"Ubiquiti is one of the cheapest WiFi network providers that provide a very good WiFi network, which is monitored and deployable. The price is very fair for the technology they're offering."
"I rate the tool's pricing a five out of ten."
"It's challenging to compare Ubiquiti UniFi Switches and other brands directly due to the significant price difference, especially between US brands like Cisco and Aruba versus others. However, compared to US brands, Ubiquiti UniFi Switches are more cost-effective. On the other hand, if compared with brands from China, it might seem expensive."
