Easy to install with good support, but the deployment of applications could be simplified
If a customer is focused on application modernization or CI/CD, there are some weaknesses. The modernization in Ezmeral could be improved. There are some issues with the integration of Kubernetes. I hope they can improve it and do much better than they do now. I would like to see the deployment of applications simplified.

Manage infrastructure automation and smooth application deployment with robust auto-scaling capabilities
Kubernetes is highly valuable for its node-based setup, which allows for the running of multiple pods. This feature is essential for infrastructure automation and application deployment. Kubernetes also offers rollback control and auto-scaling capabilities, which are crucial for maintaining an application's availability even if nodes or pods go down. Additionally, Kubernetes supports load balancing to distribute traffic efficiently across multiple pods.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"If customers focus on primary apps or if they are using them for data science, this is a good solution."
"This solution is cost effective and fast. We are able to use Kubernetes to orchestrate hundreds of container images which has been a major benefit."
"Provision of a managed platform as a service."
"The most valuable feature is the Zero Touch Operations, which involves a new way of performing operations and support. We do not have to do maintenance, the operations are very simple."
"We use this solution for the hosting of micro-services. Kubernetes helps us to orchestrate all the containers hosting these micro-services."
"It's really scalable and efficient for resource management."
"Once you get it configured properly, it's a stable solution."
"One of the most valuable features is the thickness of the cloud platform or on-prem file, which makes the solution straightforward to shift and scale. It works well with different types of deployment strategies and networks."
"With the use of our blueprint, my experience with the initial setup has been a ten out of ten where one is difficult and ten is easy."

Cons

"The modernization in Ezmeral could be improved."
"Kubernetes can improve by providing a service offering catalog that can be readily populated in Kubernetes."
"I think that the GUI dashboard in Kubernetes is very simple and that there are no great options."
"The plugins could be better. That is one pain point we had, and we had to get in with many other open standards, like Calico networking and more."
"Kubernetes can be complicated to understand. Improved documentation would help in gaining scalable knowledge and making it more understandable."
"It would be nice if they could make it easier for developers and infrastructure staff to automate some of the pieces that they have to do manually at the moment."
"The security of the solution is in its infancy and needs a lot of work."
"The initial setup of Kubernetes is difficult. However, if you are used to the flow then it is easier. The length of time it takes for the implementation depends on the project."
"The dashboard, monitoring, and login need improvements."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"I would say the solution is worth the money, but it depends on the required workloads, the type of workload, and the scaling requirements etc."
"This is an open-source solution, so there are no licensing costs associated with its use."
"I am using the solution's open-source version."
"The solution itself is open-source, so there is no cost attached to it. However, it requires a virtual machine to operate, which does come at a cost; a choice of a pay as you go model, or a monthly charge via an enterprise agreement. There is a pricing calculator available, where organizations can determine the level and number of virtual machines required, and how much that will cost."
"Kubernetes is open-source. Kubernetes is free, but we're charged for AWS utilization."
"If you're using a public cloud, the cost depends on the number of nodes you are planning to deploy Kubernetes on."
"Kubernetes is open-source."
"In addition to Kubernetes, you have to pay for support."
