A tool useful for areas like reporting and group consolidation
Scalability-wise, I rate the solution an eight out of ten. My company hasn't faced any issues regarding scalability, which we can't overcome. Regarding the scalability, there is some work required in the product. A user should also have some knowledge to be able to operate the tool's scalability feature. Sometimes, my company has to contact our support partner to figure out how to do certain things in the product. So far, my company hasn't encountered any issues with the tool where we have to deal with volumes even though we have to deal with a lot of leasing contracts, like over 2,000. My company expects the product to offer more scalability. My company has around 70 licenses.

Combines consolidations, planning, and forecasting into a single platform, eliminating the need for multiple products and streamlining data management
There's always stuff on the drawing board, and there's an arms race going on in the AI space. It's too soon to pick a winner between OneStream and Oracle. OneStream's smaller, so maybe they're more nimble, but Oracle has more resources. AI is where I see the most innovation and progress, but it's not fully developed yet. The other thing is that there are probably little things in the UI and overall processes that could be made easier to use. But there's nothing so consequential that it ruins your experience. It's more about tweaking and streamlining certain processes within the system.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"If there's already a scheduled report and we want a subset of that report, that can also be created. So we do not have to schedule a new report or create a new subscription for that. At this rate, we can create a subset out of one report itself."
"The most valuable feature of the solution stems from the fact that it is a properly working solution... The functionalities and package offered by the product seem to be the right fit for our company."
"It offers great ease of use. This impacts not only the end-user experience but also the administrator's, which affects the total cost of ownership."
"The product's most valuable feature is extensibility."
"We were with Oracle previously. With Oracle, you have to buy a different piece of software for every business process. If you want to do budgeting, that's a product. If you want to do consolidation, that's a product. If you want to do BI type of work, that's yet another product. So, you end up buying a lot of software from Oracle. With OneStream, it is a little different. It is a platform where you can do all those things, and you can do them with just one software purchase and then you just pay for users on it."

Cons

"IFRS 16 functionality is something that is not embedded in IBM Cognos Controller."
"IBM should work on a little flexibility and user-friendliness, in the current interface. It looks very rigid and hard to read. We need to give flexibility to the user in the current situation."
"Currently, they only support one browser, and it would be good if you could use it on Chrome, Firefox, etc. It is a little frustrating that you can only use a certain Microsoft browser. They're pretty tightly aligned with Microsoft. So, I can see the reasons for it."
"We should be able to download the data in the same format we upload it."
"AI is where I see the most innovation and progress, but it's not fully developed yet."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is expensive, but compared to its other alternatives in the market, I feel that IBM Cognos Controller is a reasonably priced tool."
"They price it by the user. Before discounting, it is 2,500 or something like that."
"The licensing is expensive."
"The product has a license by the user. They're on par with other competitors."
