Accessible from anywhere and easy to learn even for non-technical users, but needs more connectors and faster issue resolution from technical support
What could be improved or added to IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer is more connectors. This solution comes in a package with IBM InfoSphere DataStage and is missing a lot of connectors to various, new data sources, so IBM needs to work on that area. Compared with competitors such as Informatica and Alation which acquired other small companies to work on the connectors, IBM has not done any testing and has tried to develop the connectors in-house, but that's taking a lot of time. As a result, my company is unable to connect to a lot of data sources, particularly modern data sources.

Responsive support, scalable, and beneficial integration
The BA reporting tools, such as Data Services, and ETL tool in SAP Data Services are the most valuable. When we had in-memory requirements, we used HANA. HANA is most preferably for most the customers for in-memory. SAP is the first company that created the in-memory concept. There are a lot of SAP applications and they have good integration with SAP packages. In the next release, they should be more advanced cloud functionalities and web services. More integration with other applications including SAPs and other applications. They should not switch to a complete solution but provide better integration with other applications.

Pros

"You can also schedule and run data quality on the critical data elements on the databases."
"What's most useful in IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer is you can access it from anywhere. It's also pretty easy to learn, so even non-technical business people use it and found the solution easy to learn."
"The most valuable feature is the logging capability."
"We can extract data at a table level, extract data at the ETL level, and we can extract data at an ODP level."
"The fact that it's built on SQL, it makes it easy to write code. The database and the connection are quite smooth."
"It's easy to understand and deploy. It's easy to create new applications, and depending on the complexity of the application, it is easy to deploy the new requirements."
"Data Services' table comparison mechanism is very powerful. It's pretty hard to find a similar feature in other solutions."
"It is a powerful product with a broad range of features."
"The user interface is ok."
"The initial setup is not complex."

Cons

"The solution is outdated and is not on cloud."
"They could make it easier to work with web services."
"SAP Data Services should be made a web-based solution."
"The solution shows a lack of cloud support data services."
"The execution engines and processing engines have shortcomings and need improvements."
"Scheduling of jobs in the sequence is not available. It's a very tedious process to do that particular task. If there was a tool to schedule in the sequence that would be extremely helpful."
"Some of the jobs that are built within Data Services require local files, and during initial deployment, those local files cannot be transported between machines simply because of security issues."
"The solution could improve the overall features. There is a lot that can be done in the solution, therefor there are areas where it can improve. Additionally, there is a need to make it easier for one to create connections to other non-SAP systems. The flexibility to connect to other non-SAP systems is needed."
"The solution should offer more machine learning and automation."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"For the licensing cost of IBM Infosphere Information Analyzer, I have no information on the exact cost, but as it's bundled with other IBM products such as IBM InfoSphere Information Governance Catalog and IBM InfoSphere DataStage, the bundle is expensive when compared to competitor pricing."
"The license price is expensive but medium to large-scale companies, should be able to afford it. Other solutions, such as Talend are easier to afford for smaller companies. Depending on the sources of the data where you are receiving your data you could be paying for more than one license."
"At the entry level, if you're using it only for data integration, it is a little bit cheap. However, for large organizations it can be expensive. There are additional costs apart from the license."
"The product’s on-premise version is expensive for a medium-sized company."
"There is a one time purchase fee plus annual maintenance."
"The price of SAP Data Services is a little high when compared to other solutions. Due to the pricing and capabilities, many clients are switching to other solutions."
"I rate the product price as one or two on a scale of one to ten, where one is a low price, and ten is a high price."
"Its pricing is as per the enterprise agreement and not a concern for us."
"The enterprise version of SAP Data Services is free."
