Offers profiling and address standardization but can be complicated
Informatica Data Quality has its data warehouse, primarily using Oracle and some SQL databases. You need a database to host the data. The cleansed version of the data is stored in the data warehouse. It integrates with PowerCenter and other Informatica tools. The integration details can be complex, but a regional setup is involved in this process. Profiling smaller datasets, such as 10,000-50,000 records, worked fine. However, unexpected issues could arise with larger datasets, such as thousands of records or more, especially with tables containing many columns. Handling tables with fifty or more columns can be challenging, even in Excel. A mismatch in data types could cause the entire system to crash. Continual enhancements are being made to address these issues, which can be unique to specific industries like finance and healthcare.

Straightforward to implement, scalable, and has good stability and documentation, but technical support could still be improved
My company has around ten users of Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). A team of two to five people handles the deployment and maintenance of the solution. The current client of my company has this plan of moving to the cloud, with the possibility of replacing the ETL tool altogether, which could mean that more data is coming up, so there may be a plan to increase the usage of Oracle Data Integrator (ODI). My advice to others looking into implementing Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is that if your database is on Oracle or SQL server, then Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is a good tool to use. My rating for Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"New tools are coming out that will enable you to achieve 90 percent of use cases with the out-of-the-box configuration, but I would like to keep Informatica tight here. Otherwise, you need a Java user edit course and other things to do multiple things that you cannot configure out of the box. They have to go through those use cases to do something if those can also be configured rather than coded."
"The most valuable feature of Informatica Axon has been the data marketplace."
"Informatica Cloud Data Integration is stable."
"It's got a reputation in the industry as one of the best solutions for master data management. So, it's what we see in the Gartner top right quadrant as the best product in that space."
"The solution's scalability is high."
"The tool manually checks on applying business rules and helps to implement them."
"I like the number of options that are presented with Informatica, fuzzy matching, and your screen."
"The ability to clean out data and improve the data quality is the best feature."
"The product has an ELT approach."
"It can integrate with more recent databases like Cassandra, Hadoop, and other more recent Big Data databases."
"The scalability is great. It's one of the reasons we chose the solution."
"The tool improved our data integration workflow primarily due to its compatibility with Oracle. Its integration makes it very convenient for analytics. Its most valuable feature is robust extended capability. The solution's debugging capabilities are good."
"It's completely user-friendly."
"The initial setup is easy."
"All ETL code is stored in repositories in underlying database schemas. The number of users can access and work on the same solution using a client tool. So distributed teams can work on this tool in an efficient manner."
"The CAEM is very useful in its modularity and portability."

Cons

"Informatica's support understands the solution, but they lack the experience we need for our use case. That was one thing that we prioritized when we started searching for this kind of solution."
"There could be a lot more application integration."
"New machine learning could be added to Informatica MDM because the solution is outdated and is not moving with the current trends. The solution is good, but it definitely needs a lot of improvement and needs to speed up as per the market."
"With the solution, we had some issues, and we have every day, and we used to open a ticket. Sometimes, there are data issues and transformation issues."
"There are a small number of UI bugs that occur on occasion."
"The tool should provide a unified user interface to manage the data objects."
"Compared to other tools in the market, Informatica MDM is costly."
"One thing Informatica could improve is the way IPUs are used. Each customer purchases a certain amount of IPUs per month, but you can use more or less than that defined quantity. The only problem is if you don't use the all your IPUs, they don't carry over into the next month. I think customers should have the ability to transfer unused IPUs into the next month or year. This improvement could help give customers more flexibility, especially since cloud solutions need flexibility in how we use and pay for them."
"The price needs to be lowered. It's too expensive."
"ODI could improve by focusing on streamlining its features without unnecessary overhead."
"The stability of the software could be improved. Sometimes, the software just crashes. "
"Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is already good as a solution. Still, it needs some editing of its preview package, or if the package is upgraded, that will make Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) even better."
"It has been very good. Just recently, I've faced an issue, but I solved it somehow. While integrating with a file, I faced an issue where I wanted output files, and I had used the text field limited quotations, but at the end of the file, there was a line breakage for the last column. So, we just removed the text field because it was not working correctly for us."
"Overall the product is fine, but sometimes its reports unknown errors while we compile ETL scripts."
"ODI could improve the ease of use. There is a steep learning curve to use the solution."
"It would be really good if Oracle considered enabling the tool to integrate with some other platforms that are deprecated simply for commercial reasons"

Pricing and Cost Advice

"It's offers value for money. They're more competitive with respect to pricing and offerings."
"I rate the licensing cost of Informatica MDM a five out of ten."
"I rate the product's price a seven on a scale of one to ten, where one is the cheapest and ten is the most expensive. The product is a bit expensive."
"Informatica is very expensive."
"The pricing is quite flexible."
"The solution is very expensive."
"Comparatively, their prices are a little bit too high."
"I rate the product's pricing a nine on a scale of one to ten, where one is low price, and ten is high price."
"The solution is very expensive."
"The license can be costly, but in certain complex cases, ODI proves to be the optimal solution."
"ODI comes included when buying the cloud version of the Oracle database license."
"We found that the cost compared to other integration tools is a little high, but the solution works great."
"Per user, it is $900 USD per year, though they will give some discount. However, even a 60% to 70% of discount for each won't help us much. On top of that, there is the perpetual license you must pay at the outset."
"There is a standard license to use the solution but there are other costs in addition, such as hardware and operating system."
"The solution is expensive because of the model they use. The cost is for the license and for support."
"Being an ODI developer, I never had to pay for this product. I know that the pricing/licensing is not really low, but the product is really good."
