Provides strong detection capabilities but requires improvements in parsing and stability
I cannot think of any specific features that LogRhythm SIEM can improve upon since it supports a wide variety of major vendors. However, they need to improve their parsing techniques; the tool should understand various devices and present data in a human-readable format. For example, if a personal Android mobile needs to be integrated, LogRhythm SIEM should be able to parse that data effectively. They also need to improve their database of supported devices to cover smaller vendors alongside the major players, allowing for better global reach and usability. I have noticed some problems with parsing errors, event mismatches, and data mismatching, so ensuring accurate parsing and continuous improvement according to device updates are my basic expectations as a detection engineer.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Straight away it was fairly evident that the LogRhythm application itself, and the agent roll-out, was straight out of the box."
"The most valuable feature is that we can alternate incident automations."
"It has centralized monitoring for our security operations. Therefore, it improves our analysts' work."
"I am pretty impressed with it."
"We are migrating from a different product (Curator) to this product, and we think LogRhythm is better than the older product that we were using."
"What I really like about LogRhythm is that they're always innovating, new ideas."
"The most valuable feature to me is certainly the CloudAI, which I have been a beta tester of, and also the SIEM capabilities and automation."
"LogRhythm's correlation capabilities (part of the AIE component) is much better than Splunk's, and the solution as a whole is generally cheaper and easier to implement than ArcSight."
"The security level that they are maintaining with the pre-authentication keys is very good."
"The solution is not expensive for the data security measure you receive, it is reasonable."

Cons

"One of the things I find that would be helpful is the GLPR information, to be able to understand what is actually being processed."
"LogRhythm NextGen SIEM is currently based only on the Windows platform. This means that some of our customers have to purchase a Windows license elsewhere. If LogRhythm can move to a Linux platform or a proprietary platform, it would be very helpful."
"At times it gets a little clunky, or resource-intensive, but it works."
"In the next release, I would certainly like to see more HIPAA compliance. I would also like to see more integration with Palo Alto Networks, particularly their Traps, which is their endpoint solution."
"My big thing is the easability. I don't like to go to two different systems. The fat client that you have to install to configure it, then the web console which is just for reporting and analysis. These features need to collapse, and it needs to be in a single solution. Going through the web solution in the future is the way to do it, because right now, it is a bit cumbersome."
"We have to use tech support pretty regularly and it is sometimes not very good."
"We tend to struggle; we do see performance issues fairly regularly."
"Right now I know there's a big issue with reporting. It's challenging, at least for us, to do some of the reporting within the system itself."
"The solution could improve by providing better documentation for beginners to learn, such as videos or other tutorials."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"NextGen SIEM's pricing is moderate."
"When it comes time to renew, they say, "This is what you are using. This is what we can do for you." So, they work with you on pricing."
"I think the tool is reasonably priced. There is a need to pay per year towards the licensing costs of the tool."
"LogRhythm's licensing is based on MPS. There are some add-on features like advanced UEBA, the cloud component for advanced UEBA, and SIEM."
"LogRhythm's pricing and licensing is extremely competitive and it's one of the top three reasons we continue to invest in the platform."
"Look closely at the cost of licensing of other products. This should include setups and the need for support services. I did a RFQ to 2 other vendors before choosing this product."
"If you don't have your staff, absolutely look into the co-pilot and factor that into your cost evaluation."
"We work with French-speaking African countries, and it costs more than the average SIEM solution. Also, the pricing isn't too flexible. AlienVault, Splunk, and IBM QRadar are more suitable for customers on a tight budget."
"The solution is not expensive for the data security measure you receive, it is reasonable."
