Streamlined connectivity offers flexibility but requires enhanced visibility
We are a reseller of products and provide services and products to our end customers, using solutions like Megaport.  Depending on the customer requirements, we sometimes need to combine different solutions or rely on our in-house capabilities Megaport simplifies the connectivity process. It…

Enables productivity in terms of users and has ease of management
Scalability could be improved. Yes, you can add more than 300 or 400 sites onto it, but because it's not a true SD-WAN and, effectively, it's just a Multi-VRF, it's all hub and spoke at that point. That's the nature of the design, but that's what keeps it simple to administer. So, it's a trade off.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The pricing model of Megaport is appealing, along with its flexibility in providing connectivity to end customers."
"The product's most valuable features include templating, central administration, single-pane remote administration, and integration with other Cisco products."
"The seamless end-to-end setup is really what makes it beautiful; that's why Meraki is good."
"The solution's most valuable feature is its ease of maintenance."
"The most valuable feature is the single management plane dashboard. Our organization has a global site, we have separated the area, and we have more than five hundred small sites around the world."
"The solution is scalable."
"The product does have a variety of features we can work with."
"The solution is easy to use."
"The advantage you have with Cisco Meraki is that they take a lot of that complexity out of the backend."

Cons

"There are no notable complaints from customers regarding Megaport, and there hasn't been any identified need for improvement."
"Perimetral security for new requirements on financial networks and DRP systems, like SAP."
"The adoption of endpoint services or endpoint security should be developed in future releases."
"There is still some work to do when it comes to AI."
"From the vice perspective, they just are not as robust as some of the other vendors. They have limitations in throughput and the number of circuits that they can support on a wide area network. Their higher-end security is all cloud-based. They have some capability with the premise-based solutions, but the higher ends are all cloud-based, and that's via Cisco Umbrella."
"I'm not too familiar with the Meraki environment, but I suppose more automation is always a good thing."
"Meraki SD-WAN could improve by adding wireless access time-scheduled and overall capabilities."
"The solution lacks a certain amount of functionality and features."
"Some systems use some applications with the wrong data application. It bypasses the network, and you need to block that application on Meraki. We first try to put in passwords to do it and the network is not really safe. It's not 100%, the network can be bypassed."

Pricing and Cost Advice

Information not available
"Pricing is a significant concern for me. Amongst all the firewall brands, Cisco is one of the most expensive options. Despite its reputation and security features, many customers opt for other brands, such as SonicWall because of their lower prices. These other brands offer similar features to Cisco but at a lower cost. Cisco's pricing is something that could be improved to attract more customers. The brand has a good reputation, but when it comes to budgeting and pricing, it is not always the first choice."
"The licensing fees are approximately $1,000 USD annually."
"The product's price falls under the mid-range category, especially if we consider the new licensing model. The tool is not cheap anymore."
"The solution offers yearly licenses and product lines or prices are readily available on their website."
"If you purchase a Meeraki box, you have to purchase a license, and it's already the basic license, you will have you SD-WAN included."
"The license model may need improvement."
"The solution is a bit expensive when compared to other products."
"Any license you buy until January 2021 gets you an extra year for that purchase."
