HPE Alletra dHCI Reviews

I have a data center, and all the servers are connected to HPE Alletra dHCI. I use it for data management with VMware running on the servers.

The most valuable feature of HPE Alletra dHCI is the one-click upgrade function, which allows all drivers and services to be downloaded to all servers easily. 

Additionally, the smart deduplication and smart compression features help save a lot of storage.

We use the product to enhance the performance and reliability of the storage solutions.

The product's most valuable features include using NVMe storage for significantly better performance, the predictive analysis capabilities provided by AI tools, and the overall ease of deployment and scalability. The AI-driven InfoSight tool has been particularly beneficial in anticipating issues before they occur.

We use the solution for our virtual desktop infrastructure.

The product provides zero downtime. HCI is good for tier-2 and tier-3 applications. However, dHCI is the best choice if we are looking for mission-critical applications or VDI on which the end users depend.

We use this solution to consolidate IT infrastructure in our data center and DR sites.

The most valuable features of HPE Nimble dHCI are that you can scale compute and storage independently, Triple+ Parity RAID can tolerate three simultaneous drive failures with any data loss, and HPE Infosight AI platform which makes it the industry's most intelligent storage solution.

HPE Alletra dHCI is the main storage for all our VMware servers.

HPE Alletra dHCI was good because we could have the vVols, which we are using for our production server, with the snapshots. We use their normal data store volume for the rest of our servers. The solution is stable, performs well, and the reporting is good.

Artificial intelligence is built into the product. If there's a failure, HP support will proactively call the client about the issue.

HPE Nimble Storage dHCI only works with a hypervisor like VMware. There are plenty of other hypervisors that HP doesn't support. This is an area for improvement.

It is mainly to implement some digitalization in administration or something like that.

In addition to the notary thing of HPE, it is one of the most stable evolving companies. With regards to performance, configuration, and longevity it is upgradeable, which means it has a good TCO rate. These are valuable aspects to me. 

It's really about simplifying my infrastructure and getting myself to be cloud-enabled in a hybrid infrastructure so that I can move in and out of the cloud. That way, I can have a very easy-to-manage, intelligent infrastructure so I no longer have to worry about level one and level two calls. The storage is intelligent, it's taken care of itself. For example, if I want full-stack management, or I want to know if my virtual machines are being bad actors or noisy neighbors, or the firmware on my servers or hosts, or my hardware is all in good shape or if it has a predictive failure — I want to know about it and I want it to open up a ticket for me so that the part can be delivered to me and I don't have to open up a ticket. 

Here's a good scenario: Years ago I used to manage large data centers. I started out with 800 servers, I had 16 people. When I left there, I had 2,900 servers and eight people. That is the reality of IT staff. They're constantly being compressed and asked to do more with less. In order to do that you have to have an intelligent infrastructure. You have to have a methodology that allows you to be able to supply your user community with the services that they need consistently with a smaller staff. That is what really drives DACI and HCI.

Our clients come in all sizes, from small, medium, and large-sized businesses.

Nimble gives time back to our clients. They know it's secure. They know that it's self intelligence software. They know that it's going to report to them and let them know if there's an issue — it's going to give them predictive data. It's going to give them a full stack of data. What a lot of them couldn't see before was what's going on with the virtual environment. Now they can see that because it tells them. So not only is it storage, it's telling them, "Hey, here's how your virtual machines are acting, and oh, by the way, you need some more memory on this server." You don't expect that from any other storage. I've only seen it with Nimble. It gets them out of that firefighting mode. Now they can actually go do the things that their customers are asking them to do. That's how it changed their life from day to day for the business.
