You need to send commands through the command-line interface(CLI). This could be improved. The commands are done better in VMware.

What needs improvement?

Nutanix has a complex infrastructure, we have customers that consider VMware instead. Additionally, the performance could be better.

In an upcoming release, it would be a benefit to have live updates.

What is most valuable?

One of the main features of the solution is that it works on many hypervisors. It is a big advantage. Additionally, the solution is compatible with VMware and Hyper-V, and the management interface, which is called Prism, is very intuitive and user-friendly.

The solution upgrades very easily with the one-click upgrade feature. There are no hassles, it can upgrade the firmware and all the software. The management is very easy.

What needs improvement?

One disadvantage of Nutanix Acropolis AOS is it doesn't support external storage. Connecting external SAN storage to Nutanix, it's not supported.

The price of the solution could improve. Nutanix has recently changed its pricing model from perpetual to subscription. They have identified there are challenges with the pricing model.

The technical support we have as part of the package we purchased.

What other advice do I have?

If that a customer wants hypervisors flexibility, simplicity, scalability, and a price advantage over VMware, Nutanix is a good choice that they should consider.

Scalability is the most valuable feature. It is easy to scale-up and scale-out without impact on performance.

Scalability is the most valuable feature because it is easy to scale-up and scale-out without impact in performance since it is always online.

How has it helped my organization?

Improves the management of our virtual infrastructure in a unified point and with unified support team.

What needs improvement?

Cloud integration, automation and orchestration need improvement.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have used Nutanix for six months.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

We have not had any stability issues.

We have not had any scalability issues.

How are customer service and technical support?

I rate support 8/10.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I didn’t have a previous solution. I tested different solutions for my customers, such as Nutanix, VSAN, HPE VSA, etc, and evaluated them, but the solutions are for my customers. Also, I test all solutions in our infrastructure.

How was the initial setup?

Setup was very easy. With a few steps and a nice wizard, you have your infrastructure up.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

Is not a cheap solution, compare with competitors, but you must consider all variables in the environment to calculate the TCO. You have pre-sales tool Nutanix Sizer to calculate the TCO.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

I looked at VMware vSAN, and HPE VSA.

What other advice do I have?

Use the sizing tools in order to design the infrastructure properly.
