Veritas System Recovery Reviews

We use Veritas System Recovery as a help desk server or CA (computer associate). It works well without any issues. We use the solution for regular DR testing that we have to do every year as part of IT compliance. We allocate two or three days to shift our Oracle and Exchange platforms to the DR and then do the testing. The product was very stable and didn't give us any headaches for a long time.

When we consider the backup model of other products like Veeam, their incremental backup just adds to their first full backup. With Veritas System Recovery, we have the option to run an infinite number of full backups according to our requirements. With my cloud version of Veritas System Recovery, I can have a full backup every month, which is not possible with any other vendors.

Other vendors will claim that the original copy is strong enough, but the customers have to ensure that bugs won't cause any problems in the future. However, with Veritas System Recovery, you can run a full backup this month and again run a full backup on the first or thirtieth day of the next month.

I use the solution for daily backup and the restoration of backup files.

I don't see any scope for improvement in the product since it is a well-established solution. My company has not faced any production-related issues with Veritas System Recovery, as it has stayed quite stable in our environment.

The product's integration capabilities are an area with certain shortcomings where improvements are required. The documentation and reporting areas also need to be improved.

The tool helps automate system recovery. The solution is most useful in scenarios involving restoration to a different environment. For instance, when migrating from a physical server to a virtual one, the tool facilitates conversion.

The disk imaging feature with Veritas System Recovery could potentially enhance our data protection strategy. However, currently, it's not widely adopted, especially for servers, due to factors such as pricing and licensing. While it could benefit desktop systems, none of our customers have opted for it.

The tool's deployment could be easier. The deployment itself isn't the issue; rather, the problem lies in configuring policies and testing everything before it's ready. We invest a significant amount of time in preparing for various scenarios. However, we often encounter situations where changes have occurred since our initial preparations. This can render the automation less valuable.

We use Veritas System Recovery to take a backup onto the machine itself, and we may export it to a centralized storage location before the restoration process.

The solution captures the system state, so when we restore the system, it will be restored to the state it was in at the time of the backup. This makes it easy to restore.

The installation was straightforward.

I was not happy with the product. I didn’t even install the latest version. I had to install the agent on every PC and every server. We faced issues with recovery and restoration.

Our primary use case of this solution is for the backup of our databases and applications. We have it deployed on-premise. We resell this solution. 

It has a user-friendly interface and configures and integrates nicely with other products. Monitoring and reporting features are also good. 

We use Veritas for system recovery, backup and cloud data production. I'm an IT consultant. 

The best thing about this product is that it's a unified solution and doesn't require the installation of any other solution, whether it's in a virtual environment, or on-prem. Compared to its competitors, Veritas gives a lot, offering good recovery quickly with your system requiring the minimum RTO and RPO.

The primary use case is that we take an image of the whole server, whether it's virtual or physical and then in case it's needed, restore the whole image.

It's much faster to restore the image than to install Windows and software by itself.
