What advice do you have for others considering Acronis Backup?

In our organization, we use backup and disaster recovery to recover some of the data from the laptops of employees who did not handle their files properly. With the help of the backup, we got the missing files. Acronis Cyber Protect improved our company's security posture against threats as it gave our company some visibility on the files that got through the normal Microsoft Defender but had to be quarantined by Acronis Cyber Protect. My company needed file generations or old files on cracked software. The features of Acronis Cyber Protect I find the most valuable for data protection is in the area of encryption for backups. The cybersecurity and backup in Acronis Cyber Protect benefit our company's IT strategy because we now have a better and more reliable solution than just Microsoft Defender. With Acronis Cyber Protect, my company now has assurance that if we ever get ransomware attacks, we have backups in place to recover data. The usability and the implementation of the tool are good, straightforward, and user-friendly. The tool has impacted our company's recovery time objectives by lessening the RTOs and RPOs. Even the time for backup has been automated with the tool. In our company, we just run the backups at the end of the day, and so I think it has lessened our RTOs and RPOs by 50 percent. There is no need for troubleshooting or maintenance since the product runs smoothly. I recommend the product to others. The product is good but improvements in the form of innovations and new features need to be introduced. I rate the tool a nine out of ten.

When comparing to other vendors, based solely on my knowledge of their names as I haven't worked with them directly, I recall trying out the trial console of Barracuda, which seems somewhat similar. Barracuda was one of the pioneers in cloud-to-cloud solutions, whereas Acronis followed suit later on and wasn't initially a leader in this field. Acronis used to sell storage separately, which was considered a drawback, especially when you had to estimate how much storage your users would require. However, they have since introduced unlimited agent licensing, which addressed this issue. Another major player in backup, Veeam, initially followed a similar approach of providing your storage or purchasing it separately from cloud providers like Azure or AWS. Overall, I would rate it eight out of ten.

This is a good product that is easy to use, simple, and has good security as most of the data centers are certified. I would suggest that organizations that are considering using this product, sign up for a 30-day trial to do a complete evaluation. While using this solution for my customers over the past seven years, data loss and other disasters have been prevented. Where ransom attacks have occurred, we were able to restore the data where Acronis was used to back up information. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

With all the new features being added, the solution is becoming heavy in its use of resources. It's important to be aware of that because it affects the running of some applications. And that's not good because if you implement a security solution, you have to make it safer. The concepts are there but the execution is not that good so I would rate it a seven out of 10.

I'm using Acronis for Windows 10 and in the company, I'm using the Acronis for ESXi to make backups for virtual machines. I'd rate this solution at a nine out of ten. We are currently testing the new version, 15. Based on our experience, we have been providing input to their pre-sales team, and the feedback was taken back to the management. Now, everything seems to be running fine. For example, in the new version, they have more protection options for malware, and they have additional tools to assist the IT administrator in controlling the network. These including things like management tools for remote desktops and vulnerability management. Any customer who uses Acronis that has needed to restore anything from their backup has had a 99% success rate, where they have been able to restore data without any problems. Nothing is perfect and gets a full mark. We have faced some issues, although the support is strong and they take issues seriously. They don't let our customers get upset at the product, and they have solved all of the problems that we have faced. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

Acronis now includes a feature called Cyber Protect, which performs anti-malware scanning and protects everything on your system. It can also check for Microsoft patches and helps you to stay updated and protected. It has a very accurate disk health monitor that could warn you of imminent drive failure. It also protects the integrity of your online backups against ransomware. From start to finish, not only does it protect your hard drive, it protects the integrity of the backups as well. On a scale from one to ten, I would give this solution a rating of eight. You might require assistance to create backup plans and to link them to backup agents, and also for the fact that it doesn't have the ability work without a mouse.

We have recently started to sell Acronis solutions. We have been helping customers to understand what Acronis is all about. We give demos to our customers, and customers are quite happy with the demo and cost of Acronis. Overall, it is a good product. I would recommend this solution for smaller environments. It is mostly being used in small companies. Enterprise customers also usually use it for small projects. I haven't explored it for customers with a really big environment. For big enterprise customers, there are other solutions, like Veritas NetBackup, that provide scalability and support for big infrastructures. I would rate Acronis Backup an eight out of ten.

My advice for anybody who is implementing Acronis is to contact support if they have any trouble. I would definitely recommend them. As it is now, this is a product that I am satisfied with the way it is, and I cannot think of any additional features that I would need. I would rate this solution a nine out of ten.

It's best to go full cloud or even purchase the storage from Acronis rather than having an on-premises install where you have to purchase advanced licenses, only to go to the cloud. That is the challenge that I had with Actifio. They provide you with regular training for partners. The very first person that I interacted with was the local distributor. They were knowledgeable it was obvious that they had continuous training. You are free to install this software on any hardware that you have, the challenge is the hardware itself, such as the media server with Commonvault. There is one called Quorum, which uses the OnQ operating system. They dictate the type of hardware you install in your backup, just like the DPS in Dell EMC. That way you don't run into issues with support. I would rate this solution an eight out of ten.

My advice to anybody who is considering this solution is that they are a well-known product, and you can find a lot of information about it online if you search the knowledge base and forums. There are a lot of people who have a lot of experience with it. In fact, the biggest lesson that I have learned from using it is that if I run into problems then I can find answers by searching the internet. Acronis Backup is the kind of product that is quite easy to get started with, as it is pretty straightforward. The user interface is easy to understand, except for the trouble we have when it comes to reading the error messages. I would rate this solution a seven out of ten.

I would recommend it, but warn people new to it, to be aware that they might well be a bit frustrated at first. I would rate Acronis Backup an eight out of ten. It's one of those products that probably needs an overhaul because it's kind of evolved over time and sometimes when you evolve things, you end up in a hole. It's probably about time for them to sit back and realize that they've made all this functionality and made all these changes so they should go back. Also, managing the product is difficult. As a partner, it's difficult to manage our end-user clients because there's no single dashboard where we can go and see our clients and manage them individually. You have to set up an individual setup for each client, which is a bit frustrating. I would like to see improvements for people that are probably doing an MSP type of approach, managed service providers so that they had a much simpler way to view their end-user situations.

Because this solution is not feature-rich, we have looked at other solutions. My advice for somebody who wants to implement this solution is to make sure that they understand the requirements. This includes the RTO (Recovery Time Objective) and the RPO (Recovery Point Objective). Based on the requirements, find the solution that is going to fit best for what they really want to invest in. I would rate this solution a six out of ten.

it's better to search for a solution from among the top vendors. Acronis is one of them. In any environment you need a backup solution and protection for disaster recovery. You need to use a solution to back up your servers and Active Directory, etc. Acronis is quite a good solution for that. The most important criteria when selecting a vendor are the vendor's reputation and the quality of the solution.

My most important criterion when selecting a vendor is the usual: pricing. I rate this solution at eight out of 10. I don't think any backup solution is perfect, so I think eight is a fair rating for it. Make sure you are looking for objectives for your backup. There are less expensive solutions out there. You really have to weigh what your backup objectives are in the first place.
