The solution has a subscription-based license. Users have to keep paying for the services they subscribe to. Google Drive Enterprise has different payment models.
In the free subscription, Google Drive Enterprise provides limited integrations. You get basic integration features, but for more extensive API usage, a paid subscription is required. Even with the paid subscription, there are limits on free API usage, such as a certain number of calls per day or month.
I pay for the additional storage. Otherwise, it's free as a basic plan, 15 GB. When my storage is beyond that limit, I pay for it. Otherwise, it's completely free.
You don't need to pay if it is within your storage limits. If you need more, you can have a corporate license. I don't know the pricing, but there is a corporate license. The extra costs would only be if you exceed these free limits.
I have two Google accounts, one is my personal Google account, and the one where I use Drive more is from my university, so my university would be paying some amount, but I'm not sure about that.

Storage is the only product offered and that makes it expensive to use. If you compare it to Amazon Web Services and Microsoft, storage is incidental to other products, suites, and services. For example, Microsoft offers 1TB of storage with the purchase of Microsoft Office. The perception is that Microsoft offers free storage. It is convenient to package products and have fewer vendors with one support team. If I'm looking at storage only, I look at relative costs.
The price of Google Drive Enterprise is very good. There are different prices from different vendors, it priced competitively. For example, if I purchase a mail ID directly from Google, it'll cost me 2,500 rupees plus GST. If I buy the same from the third-party vendors, it'll be less than 2,000 rupees. On Google's website, they will quote a very high price but they should not do this. I should be able to purchase from Google at a cheaper price than what I do from third parties.
I currently only use the free version. You can pay for more space on the drive if you need to. In the past, I used the Enterprise version and we did have to pay for that. If you wanted to upgrade from free to Enterprise, there would be a cost involved, and, depending on how much you used, the price would rise. My understanding is that it is more expensive than Microsoft Teams.

I simply use the free version of the solution. There's no cost at all in terms of licensing. Once you move up to the enterprise level of the solution, when you have to pay, it's a bit pricey for us in my country.

The program is very affordable. I am just not sure what will happen if you forget to renew your license. Will you lose all your data? That is still unclear to me.
Drive Enterprise enables you to transform how your business stores, accesses, and secures files, all without extensive change management. Drive Enterprise is a standalone offering with usage-based pricing that includes all the features of Drive.
