While Sage Intact is a strong financial management platform, there are areas that could be improved. The user interface can feel complex for new users, especially during initial setup and customization. Reporting, while powerful, often requires advanced knowledge to fully utilize, and some users may find the learning curve steep. Additionally, integrations with certain third-party tools can require extra configuration or development effort.
Applying payments can be a bit difficult when we do comparisons, especially since we use AP adjustments and apply them to each other in a three-currency situation. For a bill that involves three different commissions and currencies, it can be tricky. Multi-currency support and automation support would help a lot to make this process smoother for me. If Sage Intacct had better support for multi-currency and some automations, that would have made it a 9 or 10.
Sage Intacct can be improved because it is not always intuitive; there is a lot of money that goes into customization and reworking, and when they pilot new enhancements, they have an early adopter promo that can come with bugs. I think being more cost-efficient with the subscription packages would be the best improvement.

Sage Intacct needs to improve many modules because not every module is the best, and the importing option is not available for all functions. For example, if I need to pay a bill, I do not have the option of updating multiple or thousands of bills at once; I have to manually mark each bill as paid, which is quite a headache. Additionally, Sage Intacct's customer support needs to be improved significantly because when I want to customize it, I need a better approach. Sage community support and email options are available, but we did not find them friendly to approach or capable of providing quick solutions. The user interface of Sage Intacct can be more colorful because sometimes it feels outdated, perhaps reminiscent of interfaces from the 2000s or ten to twenty years ago. It could be made more colorful, more exciting, and more engaging. Additionally, a few applications could be added, and in terms of dashboard or reports, sometimes there are too many options that make it complicated to understand, so it could be more precise and readily available.
The change order process in Sage Intacct could be smoother and easier, and I believe the ability to perform lien waivers and invoices in bulk, as well as improvements in inventory management, could enhance the system. The use of imports in Sage Intacct could be made easier for clients. I would like to see improvements in Sage Intacct regarding the ability to add cost codes to project contract lines and to have more flexibility with check printing.
As far as I'm using Sage Intacct, I haven't experienced significant challenges, but the page expires really fast if I have idle time or am working on something else while finding an amount or looking at an invoice. This feature might be helpful if they correct it. In the interface for bank reconciliation, there are so many options on the upper side, such as ending balances and periods, closing and GL balances, which are all summed up in the same place. If we could separate them with a highlighted column for the same amounts, that would be more helpful.

I think that there's a little bit of room for improvement in the way that accounts payable approval workflows are set up, however, the purchasing module overcomes any AP approval shortcomings. Other than that, I'm satisfied with the solution on almost every level. When it comes to additional features, I know that they're working on AP automation and a lot of different AI-type options, which is nice. As of right now, the solution provides everything I need.

Their training is the biggest room for improvement, and their documentation can get very confusing. It's not as clear-cut or easy to follow as it could be.

I would appreciate seeing more features included. The software needs to be adaptable depending on the region you're in. For instance, it works well for UK and US customers in terms of bank fee accuracy, but I'm pleased to see efforts to cater to the African market and improve integration with local bank transactions. The area where I would like to see significant improvement is in stock management. It would be great if it could expand its features to serve a wider range of businesses. Currently, it primarily caters to service-oriented industries, like finance and content firms, where it functions well.
It would be good if the training were perfect for all controllers, to teach them the basic tools and how to use everything in Sage Intacct. I also think they could create a very good module for automatic budgeting. The solution is very good for accounts, but I don't think it is as strong regarding enterprise performance management tools. In the future, they should try to either build it on their own or buy a company that can become a module for Sage Intacct.
We're not a good source for what's missing in any particular ERP product, as we are focused on selection and implementation consulting. If there were a weakness in a particular software offering involving a key business requirement, we'd shift our recommendations to another option. For our clients, where Intacct fits, it fits well. We've not seen significant issues. Every client we have is very satisfied with the product. We have had some pharma manufacturers use Intacct at a very early stage and move to other ERP packages to maintain manufacturing controls and documentation needed for FDA regulated entities, however, we were not involved in the initial selection of Intacct with those clients. That said, we can say it serves very well in early-stage IPO startup companies - just not in a manufacturing powerhouse.

The mobile integration was still lacking on that front. Now, most of those components have been integrated, so that's one thing that has already been implemented that I've seen that made a big difference. Furthermore, there are not too many specific things that I can think of that I would require changes for us, because we're also in talks for certain additional features and integrating human performance elements into the systems that we use. Everything seems to be running smoothly at the moment. There's nothing specific that I feel needs to be addressed.

The inventory module is quite tricky to use. I faced some issues with it.
