From the very beginning, Dell EMC NetWorker considers users and those who might potentially become users. In terms of both pricing and setup, this product offers an experience that is significantly different from what Dell EMC Avamar provides.
The price of Dell EMC NetWorker is competitive and for the most part keeps to the middle of the pricing spectrum. There are two different pricing models that users can employ. This offers users options to consider when they are deciding whether this product is the best fit for their needs. They can pay a traditional lump sum for the product or, alternatively, they can pay according to the amount of data storage that they need.
The setup of this product is a relatively straightforward one. The documentation that comes with the product is key. It walks you through the process in a clear way. If you follow it, then the setup can be accomplished with ease.
Dell EMC NetWorker’s user interface and features are two further elements which make it a very valuable product. It employs a graphical user interface that is quite user friendly. The interface does not require you to be an expert in various technical disciplines in order to use it effectively. Furthermore, the solution has a whole suite of features that provides users with an abundance of ways of accomplishing their goals. Included among these options is a variety of plugins which allow users to back up data from a wide variety of sources. The ability to integrate with a spectrum of sources removes system limitations that hold many businesses back.
Dell EMC Avamar is extremely reliable and scalable. The program is not buggy and does not often freeze. Additionally, users can upgrade Dell EMC Avamar relatively easily as the situation demands. However, the technology that this solution employs is decades out of date. As far as cost, it is also one of the more expensive solutions on the market.
Conclusion
Dell EMC NetWorker is a data storage solution which is neither the most expensive nor the cheapest available option. It offers many options which would make it an attractive choice for both large as well as smaller organizations. Dell EMC Avamar is a more expensive option which does offer a number of useful features. The age of the technology that this product relies upon, as well as the cost, are definite drawbacks.

We dedicate NetWorker for the big DB's and some older legacy applications that require a bit more horsepower & options than NetWorker has to offer. In all, NetWorker takes a bit more to install, configure and maintain vs. Avamar.
Saying all of this, Dell is driving customers towards their newer offering "Power Protect (PPDM)" which is supposed to be replacing both products.
