Hello peers,
I am the VP of Business Information Systems at a large manufacturing company.
We are in the process of standardizing a single ERP for 14 sites. We are currently on SAP ECC for 7 of them and the remaining are on legacy systems.
Our options are: Infor LN and options are SAP S/4HANA. Which solution would you suggest and why?
Thank you for your help.
Dare I say that in my view you appear to be coming at this from the wrong angle? That is, starting with packages and assessing them. A better approach is to document your requirements (business processes) and ask providers to come and show how their solution meets your needs. It requires close management; my colleagues and I often find that package providers want to show the 'clever and sexy' bits of their software and you have to keep them on track. Have members of the selection team (drawn from all areas of the business) challenge potential suppliers throughout the exercise. Questions like "you've shown us how to track material usage by lot number but how do we produce certification for our product that draws in the documentation provided by lot for each raw material batch?" help the business carry out gap analysis and aids assessment of the provider as well as their solution.
Hi, I think your question or query has the answer. If you are already a user of SAP ECC ideally moving to S4/HAN is the right decision. If you are considering another ERP with the current landscape may be because you may not be happy with SAP or not happy with the legacy systems. If 50% of your manufacturing plants are using SAP and business users are able to manage the business processes then you have another 50% of business users using legacy applications. List down overall total issues/enhancements which is being reported or expected or a list that is aligned for future technology and business requirement. Using a C&E (Cause and Effect ) matrix one can get the stake holders to rate it. And one can decide based on the results of C&E matrix which I feel the management team generally accepts it. One thumb rule is if business users are going to be ok in getting adjusted to new user interfaces or business processes then you can consider a new ERP... Again against the new ERP apply the Cause and Effect rule which will give result... Finally present it to management where one outcome is based on ECC to S4Hana and another one is ECC to Non SAP ERP.. Regards, Gopalakrishna
No one-size-fits-all "best" Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system exists for Aerospace and Defense Manufacturing companies. The choice of ERP software depends on various factors, including the specific needs of your company, its size, budget, and the complexity of its operations. However, several ERP systems have gained popularity and proven effective in aerospace and defense manufacturing. Some of these include:
1, SAP S/4HANA
2, Infor CloudSuite Industrial
3, Oracle E-Business Suite
4, Microsoft Dynamics 365
5, IFS Applications
Considering that you are already using SAP ECC at seven sites and your users and support staff have experience with it, you may want to consider SAP S/4HANA. It is a well-established ERP provider with a strong presence in the aerospace and defense sector. However, before finalizing your decision, your company must thoroughly assess your requirements, perform a detailed analysis of potential ERP systems, and carefully evaluate factors such as integration capabilities, scalability, user-friendliness, industry-specific functionalities, and customer support.
As the ERP systems landscape evolves rapidly, I strongly advise consulting with industry experts, participating in technology conferences, and engaging with vendors to explore the latest offerings and solutions available during your search. This will help ensure you make an informed decision that aligns best with your company's needs and goals.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for any clarification.

You may want to consider INFOR. Thank you.
