I like the pricing - one price for the equipment, one price for the support and maintenance (fixed for 5 years).

Easy to use, makes things less complex, and InfoSight has helped us find bad drives

Pros

"It's easy to use, it's just like 3PAR. I made clusters of 32 hosts with 50 volumes and that took barely an hour. I scripted a lot of it, filled in the names of volumes, the names of servers."

Cons

"I want it to be an active-active array. Nimble would be great as an active-active array because then everything checks out. It would give a feeling of comfort."

Beneficial management software, straightforward installation, and good support

Pros

"The management software that runs in the cloud is called InfoSight and it is very good. It is similar to machine learning software that monitors your hardware."

Cons

"I would like to have more administrative rights, for example, root-level administrative rights to the underlying OS of the storage array. We want more access to the kind of underlying infrastructure of the storage array rather than relying on support. However, most companies are looking to have more managed solutions which is the opposite direction of what I want. "

A reliable product that has been 100 percent up

Pros

"The stability is awesome. The product has always been reliable. It has been 100 percent up. We have never had any downtime with it. Even if a controller fails due to our firmware or whatever, it rolls over to the second one and keeps us running."

Cons

"I would like deduplication by default on all the volumes. I still don't understand (or know why) dedupe isn't enabled for the templates out-of-the-box. We have to go in and manually enable it each and every time. "

A tool that offers protection against ransomware and other enterprise-level attacks

Pros

"If a ransomware or enterprise-level attack happens, my infrastructure remains totally secure. If any virtual machine gets damaged or collapses, we have built a backup solution, which will take a minute to restore the same version of HPE Nimble Storage in our company."

Cons

"HPE Nimble Storage's cost is very high, making it one of its downsides."

Increases reliability, flexibility, availability and reduces administrative time

Pros

"We get storage access without the need for more human monitoring of those resources."

Cons

"The large hardware components may be difficult to fit into some standard racks."

We have gone from multiple devices down to a single device, making management simpler

Pros

"The storage capacity efficiency is phenomenal. It is off the charts in comparison to the compression ratios that we got before. We are able to save a lot more to the device."

Cons

"I would like to see the network portion of the product improve, especially with some of the things which are coming out from Aruba and HPE. Both are innovating more of an automated networking. I would like to see our Nimble meld into that and do some automated networking."

InfoSight provides immediate insight into what is happening in our environment

Pros

"I use InfoSight quite a bit. It works well. It allows you to get some insight into what's happening in your environment immediately, instead of having to send things off and having them analyzed and sent back to you."

Cons

"The only thing I'm really looking for in my next array is some hyperconverged, so if they had something in that space... But I know they have SimpliVity so that is probably not going to happen."
