Reasonably priced, scales well, and offers good stability
We primarily use the solution for cluster applications and databases. We use the solution on the DBA and those that use double machines Being able to have broken files on-site on the same appliance is quite useful. The newer version of NVME has a really noticeable difference in quality versus the…

Reduces downtime, offers good rack density, and has a 100% data availability guarantee
InfoSight reduces downtime. Customers are happy with the speed and management of the storage. The DSCC is good. It offers good density on the rack. It's a very dense storage. The solution offers a cloud-like operational model on-prem for managing data. The management is easier. The DSCC helps a lot. It simplifies the storage process. The customer has GreenLake and they can easily see the costs of Alletra storage by workload. Alletra is good at predicting and preventing problems. InfoSight, via the portal, helps with this. We don't need to access the equipment. InfoSight will automatically generate a ticket, and the engineer will call us if there are issues. The process is automatic, and it prevents downtime. The data availability guarantee is helpful for us, as resellers. It helps us convince the customers the product is very good and well-built. The solution helps prevent time spent on storage provisioning. It's simple to deploy. Compared to 3PAR, we spend 80% less time on storage provisioning. In 3PAR, you need to provision the CPGs, select rate levels, and manage the free space, which is very complex. Alletra simplifies all of that with a single console. It's improved our storage performance. We have a 3PAR hybrid. Alletra is new equipment with more speed and all-flash. We've improved our IOPS from 10,000 to 8,000.

Good interface, helpful support, and easy fault identifying
HPE Nimble Storage is used for data backups HPE Nimble Storage uses the InfoSight platform and it is useful because we can identify the faults and can analyze the performance. It has many other features. This feature is the best that I have observed from HPE Nimble Storage. The interface of the…

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most valuable features of Pure FlashArray X NVMe are its superior performance compared to other flash tiers, as well as its ease of use, with an intuitive user interface that is simple to deploy and use."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is reliability."
"The high availability of the product is the most valuable feature."
"The initial setup was extremely simple and straightforward."
"Pure FlashArray X NVMe helps to improve our processing speed. It is user-friendly and easy to use."
"Pure has signature security technology, which cannot be deleted, even if you are an administrator."
"The duplication algorithm allows us to get a lot more use out of less storage. We're running a five terabyte array right now and we're running probably about 30 terabytes on it. So the duplication rate is pretty phenomenal, without a cost to performance. It still runs pretty smoothly."
"One of the best features is the support, which is excellent."
"Technical support is excellent."
"Clients like the insights tools within the solution that came from Nimble and were pulled in."
"It is the simplicity of the deployment. They have unified all the features they have."
"The simplicity of use is great."
"The all-flash system we have is incredibly fast."
"The GUI for onboarding is straightforward."
"The performance is valuable. The NVMe performance with VDI plays a big role. There is efficiency of the array and replication between two sites. A lot of customers use Alletra for production and DR and do replication."
"The tool's notable feature is that we don't need to log a case directly with the vendor. The tool has access to all the logs on-premises. This is an on-premises solution. Additionally, we can provision data as thick or thin provisioned. Moreover, it includes data grid duplication and compression features."
"VMware integration, why is pretty self-explanatory."
"HPE Nimble Storage is a very organized and customer-oriented tool."
"The most valuable feature is InfoSight, and the ability that InfoSight gives you, from insight within your environment to what is going on at the storage layer."
"I have found the convergence rate and deduplication the most valuable features."
"Nimble's phone-home capability is decent. The compression, dedupe, and caching are also solid. Generally, I like the simplicity. It's almost a set-and-forget solution."
"Good architecture and produces a lot of IOPS."
"We have found the advantage of it is the easy, rapid setup, but also that it is very easy to manage."
"Scalability is another reason we chose to go with Nimble: upgrading to another storage array. If we need higher capacity or throughput, we can just replace controllers, we don't have to replace or forklift-upgrade the whole chassis."

Cons

"In the next release, I would like to see real-time analytics for further insight into consumption models."
"We've seen that when we create a POD in synchronous mode, it increases the latency."
"Managing data isn't difficult for me. The performance is usually perfect, but we sometimes have capacity problems."
"If the customer only needs 500 terabytes and doesn't care how much data they'll put in the server, IBM is cheaper than Pure."
"We would like to see VNC integration or be able to use Pure Storage with VNC."
"One point I'd like to improve is that the tool should start selling small boxes again. It discontinued some products and is focusing on bigger, more capable boxes, neglecting the SMB market. Even though it's not a big market, it shouldn't have removed them."
"I'd like to see the product implement active replication for vehicles such as VMware."
"Our use cases require more multi-tenant capabilities and additional VLAN interfaces for separating different customers. We currently use it to provide storage, sometimes shared storage, to different customers, but it is less flexible in comparison to a dedicated solution."
"I would like to see some form of direct connect fiber channel options."
"It was fairly difficult to migrate the data from 3PAR over."
"I do not have any issues with it. It has been good for us. There are no cons that I see, and that is why we use it."
"The solution could use more monitoring of their split-brain system controllers."
"Since it's a slightly cutting-edge technology, we had to put in quite a lot of new fabric and stuff for it. That's probably the only thing people need to be aware of—to make sure you've got everything sorted out upfront to make the implementation smooth and fast."
"It would be great if it cost less."
"I need the protocol expected. I want them to include NVMe protocol in VMware compatibilities."
"I'd like to see larger cluster sizes beyond four nodes."
"We face challenges with hardware delivery."
"HPE does not have suffficient storage."
"The solution should allow for easier configurations."
"It would be ideal if all these enterprise-class high-performance products would come at a cheaper price."
"We want to start storing data in the cloud really soon and we are looking at options."
"They keep talking about doing one-to-many replication. This is what we'd like to see, just to help with data replication."
"I don't think it is officially released yet, but the main reason that we chose Nimble is because of the sync rep feature. So, I would like to see that further evolve. This feature will be essential for our setups."
"HPE Nimble Storage could be improved with some critical application or servers."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is expensive."
"Given its price, Pure is not the first option."
"They can tout the functionality and cutting edge technology that they have, but that's where the price tag comes in. The cost is high, but I think as they grow their business and get more customers that it will probably go down a little bit."
"Pure FlashArray X NVMe’s pricing is cheaper than other products."
"The support cost per array is about $20,000 a year for 24/7 support."
"As far as the licensing costs, everything is included in the license."
"The licensing is on a yearly basis."
"Its price could be better. It is not too expensive, but it is the high-end cost. It is kind of a Rolls-Royce. You pay a lot, but you get a lot out of it. So, the price pressure on the way down would be great, but at the end of the day, if you need to do the work, you just pay for it."
"It is reasonably priced."
"It is fairly priced. It is in line with industry standard pricing and cost models."
"There is a license. HPE Alletra uses a cloud-based model."
"The solution is expensive and can cost around five lakhs."
"For us, its price is good."
"HPE was a clear winner on price per terabyte. It was very smooth."
"So far, so good."
"Overall, it was good. It had a good price per gigabyte."
"The solution’s licensing is on a yearly basis."
"We have seen tremendous ROI. It pays for itself 10 times over in the matter of four years."
"The pricing is better than some of the competitors, such as Dell EMC."
"It is very pricey. You pay for what you get, and this storage solution is great. It is well worth the cost."
"Nimble Storage is too expensive for our enterprise customers."
"It's expensive. It could be cheaper. I'd rate it a five out of ten in terms of pricing. We're on a yearly licensing. I haven't come across any additional costs. We just paid for three-year support."
"The price of HPE Nimble Storage is good."
"If you are a super small company, the product is probably not right for you. It is out of your price range. Anything from mid-SMB up to enterprise, it is absolutely the right product."
