Initially, I walked through Teradata and not Oracle Database. Currently, I am doing a job for an organization that uses Postgres Database and offers a cloud solution. I work in technology advocacy for partners. Cloud solutions are our focus.

What is our primary use case?

For Heineken in Vietnam, we use Oracle Database as a Service to help in areas like sales and ERB in SAP.

What is most valuable?

The solution's most valuable feature is that Oracle is more secure as a database than other solutions like AWS. The tool offers okay security and good performance. We had deployed CRM on Oracle Cloud and found it to be better than Azure Cloud.

What is our primary use case?

On a day-to-day basis, we use Oracle Database for monitoring and managing data volumes, especially adding data files automatically. I haven't directly experienced how Oracle Database enhances data analytics, as my involvement has been more on the application design side.

What is most valuable?

In terms of features, I find Automated Storage Management (ASM) and Data Guard most helpful for improving data security and reliability. 

Oracle Database is scalable, particularly in storage utilization with ASM. The availability of Oracle Database has contributed positively to operational uptime, especially with Data Guard.

One of the benefits is the ability to use solutions you're familiar with and leverage the cloud.

What is our primary use case?

The primary use is the leverage DBaaS (Database as a Service) using the Oracle Cloud solution without having to build the database a step at a time.  Getting a pre-built Oracle database can be beneficial for testing for functionality, new development, but mostly the ability to quickly build different sizes of Oracle systems without a large effort.  The ability to resize things is also an advantage over other cloud solutions.  There is also an Autonomous Database.

How has it helped my organization?

I think some of the biggest benefits is if there's a consolidation potential, or putting things up in the cloud where I can consolidate many databases into one. Also a location potential is helpful; if I have customers in Germany and China and in the U.S. but my IT is located in Chicago, I could go to the Oracle Cloud and now maybe I can put replicas using Oracle's multi-tenant database. The cloud makes this a lot easier to actually do a clone of a pluggable database, but I could just take that pluggable database and clone it to China. I can clone it to Germany and then I could have one here in the United States. The data is closer to the person. There's also EU privacy laws that I have to keep and it makes it a lot easier to secure things in one location as well. Careful though, some laws require you to take responsibility for what you put in the cloud.  We also benchmarked Oracle ADW vs. AWS Redshift & Oracle was much faster.

Has good partitioning features and vertical scalability

"In terms of structured databases, I support SQL-based databases. SQL has its place, but not for plannable structure and transactional databases. At the same time, Oracle is very much optimized. "

What is our primary use case?

Oracle Database could be useful for companies that need the stability of the Oracle database. People might not have the money, time, and options to maintain commodities-supported systems on their own or have a dedicated DBA team. So, the best is if you buy the service and not simply install a database and hope that it will work but not have enough people to support it. In my opinion, any mid-size business needs the stability and scalability of an Oracle Database.

How has it helped my organization?

Where I work, all the core systems are Oracle-based. In the banks, there were about 400-800 people as users and many customers.
