Manager (QA) at PureSoftware Ltd
Efficiently pulls out audit reports but lacks flexibility
Pros and Cons
- "We are using Oracle Database as a Service mainly for pulling out audit reports."
- "There is room for improvement in terms of flexibility."
What is our primary use case?
What needs improvement?
One area for improvement would be the ability to connect to Excel directly from the database. Currently, I am unable to do this with Oracle Database as a Service, whereas I am able to do so with SQL Server. I would like to see Oracle Database as a Service offer a similar service to what SQL Server provides in terms of connecting Excel to the database.
In the next release, I would like to see a feature that allows for easy transfer of data from MySQL to other databases, such as SQL Server. Having this capability would provide developers with more flexibility in their coding.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?
When I started working here a long time ago, Oracle Database version 9 was not very stable, but after version 11, it got very stable. If we follow the patching process, such as applying CPU and PSU patches, we don't need to check the stability of the database.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
Oracle Database supports scalability and high availability due to clustering architecture, like RAC. You can easily expand data nodes or processing nodes to meet your needs. 1000 users are using this solution.
How are customer service and support?
Oracle Database offers 24/7 support, and many third-party companies contract with growing corporations to provide support services. You can easily get support from these companies.
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have used Microsoft SQL Server and switched to Oracle Database because it can support large systems with many users. Most large systems today run on Unix or Reynolds operating systems, and Oracle Database is well-suited for these environments. However, IT environments such as AWS or Azure are increasingly moving to the cloud.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup is good and convenient. We don't need to set up the worker in case of extra data. The machine and software are in one box. It takes one hour to install Oracle Database.
What about the implementation team?
As an engineer, I would install the Palantir environment or occasionally test the system environment for the operating and production systems. We rely on the database administrator for assistance.
