CodeTwo Backup for Office 365 is a desktop application that lets you perform full or incremental backups of selected Microsoft 365 (Office 365) mailboxes and public folders, SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business sites, as well as Microsoft Teams data. Thanks to the granular recovery feature and advanced search options available for backup storages, you can then choose to restore either entire mailboxes and site collections or only selected types of data – from email folders, calendars and contacts in Exchange Online or lists and libraries in SharePoint and OneDrive, to individual items like single messages or attachments.
CodeTwo Backup for Office 365 allows you to back up on-premises Exchange and SharePoint contents as well.

While CodeTwo Backup for Office 365 is generally great, there is some room for improvement in integrating with Office 365's restore options. Additionally, there is room to improve in managing email signatures. If it could make handling email signatures simpler or offer more features, that would be a plus. An additional feature that could be valuable is a search functionality within Office 365 tenants for specific mailboxes or logs related to events like receiving certain emails or bounce occurrences.

The initial backup speed in CodeTwo Backup for Office 365 is slow. The process is slow during the initial backup in the Office 365 network. However, subsequent backups are incremental, meaning only new items are backed up. If you're looking for a lightweight and more affordable backup solution and have some technical knowledge, CodeTwo Backup is a great choice. It costs about a third of what Veeam Backup does yet offers similar functionality. While it might be a bit harder to use, it remains accessible for someone with technical expertise. However, beginners or freelancers might encounter some difficulties. Overall, I rate the solution an eight out of ten.

I attempted to modify the XML files in the product's configuration to enhance the speed and efficiency of the process. While the KBs and documentation were well-written, technical aspects related to speed adjustment parameters were unclear. Even after reaching out to Microsoft to explore the possibility of modifying EWS parameters for improved speed, we were informed that while it was feasible for individual administrators to adjust limits, it is no longer an option for organizations, particularly when dealing with Exchange Online.

"The tool's pricing was reasonable. I don't remember the amount per mailbox, but the cost seemed fair, considering we had around 300 mailboxes to migrate and needed to do it in a rush over a weekend. We didn't have many choices for people to operate the migration."
