Allows automatic notifications for events and stable performance
Currently, it only supports triggering one job at a time. It would be helpful if it could handle multiple jobs or triggers simultaneously. What I mean is that currently, we can only perform one job at a time. For example, if I want to schedule a job at 12 o'clock, I can only schedule one job at that specific time. If I want to perform multiple jobs simultaneously, let's say sending a notification and starting a task at 12 o'clock, I can't do that with the current system. It only allows one job at a time. In future releases, I would like to see specifically multiple jobs at the same instance of time and multiple triggers simultaneously.

Offers the ability to batch metadata transfers between systems that support MQ as the communication method
We find it scalable for internal applications, but not so much for external integrations. It should support a wider range of protocols, not just a few specific ones. Many other products have broader protocol support, and IBM MQ is lagging in that area. IBM MQ needs to improve the UI for quicker logging. Users should also have a lot more control over logging, with a dashboard-like interface. That's something they should definitely work on.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The best feature is that it allows you to perform recurring tasks efficiently."
"It has self-explanatory documentation and works with most projects."
"Amazon EventBridge is very flexible."
"It's very simple to set up our cron with Amazon EventBridge."
"We like IBM MQ for our synchronous communications and transactional applications that require a lot of CPS."
"Stability-wise, I rate the solution a ten out of ten."
"Reliable messaging and throughput are the most valuable."
"I haven't seen any issues with respect to the message loss."
"The solution is very easy to work with."
"We use queue managers/concentrators for message flow going upstream and downstream on applications with enterprise licenses."
"The high availability and session recovery are the most valuable features because we need the solution live all day."
"We have implemented business to business transactions over MQ messaging. The guaranteed and once only delivery ensures business integrity."

Cons

"Currently, it only supports triggering one job at a time. It would be helpful if it could handle multiple jobs or triggers simultaneously. What I mean is that currently, we can only perform one job at a time."
"It would be easy if we had an option to select multiple things to run the script from Monday to Friday."
"Amazon EventBridge doesn't have the feature of event replay."
"It would be good if the solution provided a feature to add multiple Cron expressions in one rule."
"SonicMQ CAA (continuous availability architecture) functionality on auto failover and data persistence should be made available without a shared drive, as it exists in multi-instance queue managers."
"We would like to see the IBM technical support team extend their hand to providing support for other cloud vendors like Azure, Google Cloud, and AWS"
"The integration capabilities could be even easier."
"The worst part is the monitoring or admin, especially in the ACE or Broker. There is always a problem of transparency. In MQ you can observe any process and you know exactly what's going on behind the scenes, but with the ACE or Broker, it's a problem monitoring the HTTP inputs. It's like a black box."
"I would like to see it integrate with the newer ways of messaging, such as Kafka. They might say that you have IBM Integration Bus to do that stuff, but it would be great if MQ could, out-of-the-box, listen to public Kafka."
"IBM could revamp the interface. The API is huge, but some developers find it limiting because of the cost. They tend to wrap the API course into the JMS, which means they're missing out on some good features. They should work a little bit on the API exposure."
"It is expensive. The cost is high. There should be more improvement in the new age of technologies."
"If they could come up with monitoring dashboards that would be good. We are using external monitoring tools, apart from our IBM MQ, to monitor IBM MQ. If we could get monitoring tools or dashboards to keep everything simple for the user to understand, that would be good."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Amazon EventBridge's pricing is pretty cheap."
"There is real money involved here. As compared to RabbitMQ, IBM MQ is on the higher side in terms of cost."
"There is a different platform price between Windows, z/OS, and iSeries."
"You have to license per application installation and if you expand vertically or horizontally, you will be paying for more licenses. The licenses are approximately $10,000 to $15,000 a license, it can get expensive quite quickly."
"This solution requires a license and we have purchased an enterprise license."
"I think the pricing is reasonable, especially with IIB as a part of it."
"Licensing for this software is on a yearly basis. The standard fee includes the maintenance and updates that are released periodically."
"It would be a 10 out of 10 if it wasn't so expensive."
"The price of IBM MQ could improve by being less expensive."
