Not only does it allow the creation of in-house application servers and websites but also acts as a proxy server for specific use cases
The initial setup of Apache Web Server is extremely straightforward. The solution's deployment process can be completed in a few minutes. The deployment process depends on how the application is designed. For example, if you are designing an application that only renders static web pages, then the design will be unique. If there is a digital library of books and people are reading books in such a library, then mostly a server like Apache Web Server will host the content of the books on the application server and since everybody is trying to use the library, some of the users will be concurrently reading the same book, in that case a caching server is needed to help in load balancing. For the aforementioned example on libraries, the Apache Web Server can be used for the FTP to allow users to download or upload files and perform session tracking.

Provides good performance and error handling, but its initial setup is complex and could be improved
We use Oracle SOA Suite for application integration in our company. We were using the on-premises version of the product. Since Oracle SOA Suite has its own engine, you can build your integrations, deploy, and use them. We used the Oracle BPEL Process Manager for Orchestration when we had a lot of business logic. Oracle Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) and Oracle VPN come under the Oracle SOA integration platform. Compared to other solutions like SnapLogic, Oracle SOA Suite is not easy to use. Oracle SOA Suite is suitable for customers with a big complex integration process, where performance and infrastructure stability are more important. Overall, I rate the solution a seven out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The most significant advantage is the ability to swiftly enable HTTPS services when my DNS is configured correctly."
"The solution offers good security."
"Apache has proven to be incredibly reliable, and everything has operated smoothly without encountering any issues."
"The solution's most valuable feature is reporting."
"The control panel is very easy to navigate. It's similar to most hosting platforms, so it's user-friendly. Once you get used to it, managing your hosting becomes easy, too."
"Apache Web Server can be used as a proxy server"
"Its community is its most valuable feature. Solving problems is easier on Apache because so many people know this product."
"It's reliable, configurable and generally secure."
"The most valuable feature of Oracle SOA Suite is all the platform's capabilities."
"In Oracle SOA Suite some applications are not able to use REST, but it can support both SOAP and REST. You're able to integrate quite a lot of systems, which may not be able to in other solutions. You can also use XML and JSON. It is a standardizing type of tool. It doesn't matter whether I'm using JSON or XML, it can convert them."
"It performs better in real-time transactions."
"I found the adapters to be most useful."
"Provides connectivity between discrete systems and has availability."
"Valuable features include web service development and cloud connectivity."
"The Oracle SOA Suite has many useful features, and different organizations may place different emphases on the importance of each feature. Certain features are particularly important to the organization, such as the ability to access databases and transform messages, as well as the use of proxy services to secure web services with usernames and passwords. These features can be critical for enabling effective integration and data exchange between systems and applications."
"The ability to stand up a highly available SOA Suite, which has full DR capabilities, in a remote center and synchronize the databases using Data Guard."

Cons

"I want the user interface to be more user-friendly."
"Adding a reverse proxy to Apache Web Server would be a significant improvement."
"By optimizing the infrastructure to allow the webserver to directly handle queries from memory—particularly by prioritizing the storage of queries in memory and processing them through the web server interface—I could potentially cut down the required instances from five hundred to two hundred."
"So far, for us, everything is okay."
"For NGINX, I think it has NGINX Management Suite, which is GUI-based and allows you to manage your configuration via the user interface, but Apache fails to offer such capabilities to users."
"The interface has room for improvement."
"Things change very fast. We're always on the lookout for better approaches and tools. If the solution falls behind, we may have to switch."
"It would be great if technical support for Apache were available in Iran. It is a very important need."
"Its function options can be improved."
"The product is not user-friendly."
"The solutions can improve the communication or translations between formats, such as JSON and XML. The JSON REST API could improve."
"If the disk space expansion can be made more flexible, not requiring a database restart, it would be a major benefit."
"An important area that can be improved is the product's data monitoring. When we use the solution for interfacing or end-to-end data monitoring, we want to know exactly where the data is going and exactly where it is failing, or where there is an issue."
"An area for improvement in Oracle SOA Suite is the cost. It could be lower."
"Another area of improvement is performance. Because with multiple solutions connecting to the SOA platform, the performance of the SOA platform can be affected in time. So, that could be one area that could be improved with the SOA."
"The solution’s initial setup is complex and could be improved."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The apache software is free, open-source."
"It is an open-source solution."
"It is a free-of-cost solution."
"There is no licensing cost for the product."
"The product is moderately priced."
"It is necessary to evaluate the requirement regarding the platform usage and what the main operation area of the platform will be."
"Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution."
"Oracle pricing is expensive. Support is based on your license. AWS is much better than Oracle in this regard."
"This product is WebLogic based, hence it can be both resource hungry as well as expensive from a licensing point of view."
"Based on my knowledge, Oracle SOA Suite doesn't have user-based licensing. It has a system-based licensing model, so you pay for whole systems. Oracle SOA Suite is an expensive solution, so it's a four out of ten for me."
"The pricing is not very high as compared to its competitors."
