Stable hotel networking enhances return on investment with valuable modular features
There are issues with the distribution side of Aruba Switches. For instance, the distributor in our country cannot sell to neighboring countries, creating complications in project execution. Improving the distribution network across regions would be beneficial. Also, the SFP modules are significantly more expensive than industry peers, which affects cost-effectiveness.
Mr. Qalat Khan - PeerSpot reviewer
The solution is power efficient, stable, and provides free-of-cost batch upgrades
The solution can improve by adding virtualized switch functionality. Huawei mentioned virtual switches in one of the product sheets, but when we got to the deployment phase, it turned out that they didn't actually include virtual switching functionality. Other than that, the switch and network are performing well and meeting our requirements.

"Huawei Ethernet Switches are functional. It has a good response to resolve issues."
"They are very user-friendly. Handling Huawei is very easy."
"Huawei Ethernet switches are easy to use and can be managed using either the GUI or via the command-line."
"They have the ability, since they have a very big R&D team, to create an upgrade for any feature or patch very easily."
"The most valuable feature is the audit systems. I also like that it can synchronize on the alternate configuration of products together at the same time."
"The HTTP features for security are very good. We use all of the regular features."
"The solution is easy to set up."
"The performance of Huawei is good, and it provides security capabilities."

Cons

"There are some growing pains with Aruba Central. When you first launch the wireless access points or switches, a lot of updates are needed to get Aruba Central ready, especially on the access points, so the initial deployment time could improve. I would hope that I could just turn it on and leave the updates until later on. The switches themselves probably did okay. I'm primarily referring to the wireless access points. There was a lot of back and forth before everything was in sync. It took hours."
"The initial setup is relatively complex."
"Aruba should be made more user-friendly."
"I would like to see a lower price on the device."
"The power supplies are generally susceptible to power fluctuations and failure due to these fluctuations."
"The software materials could be improved."
"There is an issue with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), but it is escaping me. We aren't using this feature yet, but it is something we are considering."
"The main issue we had with the Aruba Switches was that they would heat up easily when placed outside. We have two locations with no cover in the corridor and it's a historical building. We experienced outages on the first batch of Aruba Switches we received, which we never had with the Dell Switches, for example, even though Dell Switches are not as well-known. However, the Dell Switches had been outside for a few years and we never had any issues with them. In contrast, we encountered an issue with the Aruba Switch after only one week of being outside when it shut down in security mode."
"One of the problems with Huawei is that when you receive a product quote from one of the vendors, you cannot get prices from the other ones because they register your request with Huawei."
"I didn't like the Huawei Switches because of the different versions resetting the configuration issue. Huawei doesn't support Layer 3 modes while TOE and ARP have some issues."
"The product’s pricing needs improvement. It could be more stable as well."
"The technical support is technically savvy, but the communication via English is not so easy."
"I would like to see some improvements in the access layer switch that is available in Aruba."
"The graphical user interface could be much better."
"Huawei Ethernet Switches are scalable but can be improved."
"In the next release, I would like to see an increase in the performance of DDoS protection systems against all kinds of attack packets."
