Stable hotel networking enhances return on investment with valuable modular features
There are issues with the distribution side of Aruba Switches. For instance, the distributor in our country cannot sell to neighboring countries, creating complications in project execution. Improving the distribution network across regions would be beneficial. Also, the SFP modules are significantly more expensive than industry peers, which affects cost-effectiveness.

Easy to set up, user-friendly, and reliable
I'm also familiar with Cisco which I used at another company. Cisco is a little bit expensive to acquire. With MikroTik, came with the same solution and you can use so many features. In MikroTik, you can use maybe two routers or one router to cover all your requirements, which you can also do on Cisco. This product is also cheaper than Cisco. Cisco has a lot of complications even with the configurations. On the price issues or even support issues, you may need to have so many routers when using Cisco for a simple solution. If you can use only one switch to clear your solution, why don't you use MikroTik? You don't have to use Cisco to have more than one switch to solve your problem.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We have found that the command line interface is very useful and very similar to Cisco devices."
"They provide great service in terms of replacing malfunctioning switches."
"Aruba Switches are definitely stable."
"The solution is easy to use and quick to deploy."
"The most valuable feature is the switches are reliable and replaced for free if anything goes wrong."
"These switches have a good performance, and they are also quickly configurable."
"Aruba Central is valuable."
"I find the most valuable feature is it is part of the Aruba family."
"The router power is the most valuable aspect."
"The technical support for MikroTik Cloud Router Switch is superb."
"The best aspect is that it remains affordable."
"It's a well-rounded solution for routing."
"It is user-friendly, reliable, and cheap."
"The GUI is easy to use."
"This solution is very similar to the on-premises version making it easy to use for those who know the architect."
"Some of the most valuable features are the simplicity, cost, usability, and power. As a package, it's extremely effective."

Cons

"We had an issue with the hardware where one or two interfaces went down after one and a half years. This issue impacted only one or two interfaces, not the whole hardware."
"There are some growing pains with Aruba Central. When you first launch the wireless access points or switches, a lot of updates are needed to get Aruba Central ready, especially on the access points, so the initial deployment time could improve. I would hope that I could just turn it on and leave the updates until later on. The switches themselves probably did okay. I'm primarily referring to the wireless access points. There was a lot of back and forth before everything was in sync. It took hours."
"There is a long delay in receiving Aruba Switches when ordered. There should not be a long delay in receiving the solution. Additionally, there should be a lifetime warranty to compete with other solutions."
"The main issue we had with the Aruba Switches was that they would heat up easily when placed outside. We have two locations with no cover in the corridor and it's a historical building. We experienced outages on the first batch of Aruba Switches we received, which we never had with the Dell Switches, for example, even though Dell Switches are not as well-known. However, the Dell Switches had been outside for a few years and we never had any issues with them. In contrast, we encountered an issue with the Aruba Switch after only one week of being outside when it shut down in security mode."
"The element of security always can be improved. If the solution continues to improve its security functionality, it will continue to be a great product."
"I think that the performance is getting better but they need to have more powerful switches on the market so that they can capture medium and large businesses."
"The need to come up with a bit more flexibility in their range of models."
"There is room for improvement in the customer service and support team."
"The initial setup is complex."
"Antispam and antivirus features should be included in the future."
"It would be even better with a centralized management platform."
"MikroTik Cloud Router Switch needs improvement in the area of security, although the recent models are addressing this."
"MikroTik is mostly used by medium and small businesses, so the security is not as robust as Cisco."
"Technical support could be better."
"The area for improvement is security. MikroTik is mostly used by medium and small businesses, so the security is not as robust as Cisco."
"The RAM capacity offered by the product needs to be increased, as it is one area where the tool currently has some shortcomings."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The cost is very cheap when you compare it to CISCO."
"Our customers may want better pricing but we are a reseller and a partner, and the pricing that we get is good."
"There is a license to use the solution."
"Pricing for this product is reasonable."
"Cisco has a higher cost than Aruba Switches."
"Aruba Switches are cost-effective."
"Aruba Switches are very expensive."
"We pay for the clear pass and the controller."
"The price of the solution is fair and there is a one-time license purchase only."
"The price is competitive."
"This product has a one-time cost and there is no licensing fee."
"The licensing for MikroTik is great. It's easy to enter, especially for small businesses. Their model is great."
"I believe the price of the tool is high, but it is okay for the services we get from it."
"I consider it to be a cost-effective solution."
"They came with the licensing when we purchased them."
"In Pakistan, if you buy this cloud router, it's approximately $700 for the device."
