Stable hotel networking enhances return on investment with valuable modular features
There are issues with the distribution side of Aruba Switches. For instance, the distributor in our country cannot sell to neighboring countries, creating complications in project execution. Improving the distribution network across regions would be beneficial. Also, the SFP modules are significantly more expensive than industry peers, which affects cost-effectiveness.

Easy to set up, user-friendly, and reliable
I'm also familiar with Cisco which I used at another company. Cisco is a little bit expensive to acquire. With MikroTik, came with the same solution and you can use so many features. In MikroTik, you can use maybe two routers or one router to cover all your requirements, which you can also do on Cisco. This product is also cheaper than Cisco. Cisco has a lot of complications even with the configurations. On the price issues or even support issues, you may need to have so many routers when using Cisco for a simple solution. If you can use only one switch to clear your solution, why don't you use MikroTik? You don't have to use Cisco to have more than one switch to solve your problem.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is pretty easy to implement the product."
"It's a reliable product that you can depend on."
"The speed of the processor allows for quicker boot-up times compared to Cisco switches."
"There is a feature where you can use Bluetooth. You can set up a Bluetooth pairing connection and do the configuration through your phone."
"I like how Aruba switches integrate with On."
"Very easy and quick to setup and provide a nice dashboard providing a view of everything."
"The most valuable features are stability, ease of management, and the monitoring tool."
"The most valuable features of Aruba Switches are the routing protocol and the basic functionality."
"The tool has impacted our company's network costs and productivity in a perfect manner and percentage-wise, I can say it is 120 percent."
"There are a lot of features to control permitting or stopping packets in the network."
"The most valuable feature is that it has better throughput than its competitors."
"The interface management and the user access management is pretty good."
"The router power is the most valuable aspect."
"It is easy to set up the solution."
"It is user-friendly, reliable, and cheap."
"The initial setup is easy."

Cons

"The port flexibility on the 54 series, specifically the 5406 for core usage, could be improved. When I want to upgrade to 10G, I don't have many options to choose from."
"The written documentation, all the available documentation, is often a little bit hard to find. The solution lacks documentation, especially on recent features. We have access directly to Aruba, Germany, so they are always helpful, but if you start, for instance, with something a little bit more complex like zero-touch provisioning, that would require a more comprehensive written piece."
"The migration from older to newer products could be improved."
"Aruba's operating system changes with every version."
"The initial setup is not easy."
"I would prefer it if they reduced the cost of the switches and the access points."
"Aruba does not have local support in our region of Kerala."
"Replacement could be automated."
"Simplifying the documentation would be a good idea."
"In medium to large sectors, there's a necessity for managing aspects like proxy firewalls."
"Technical support could be better."
"Antispam and antivirus features should be included in the future."
"It happens that you may find your network is down, if you reboot the switch, they come up. However, sometimes, they reset themselves. That's a big issue."
"If MikroTik had a marketing team and support team in India then it would be much easier for us to get the product, as well as support."
"The user interface could improve and they should allow a license for IBS."
"There has to be more development in the OS. It's complex for this switch as compared to others like Cisco. For NetGear and Cisco, it's easy to adapt the VLAN concept but it should be simplified for MikroTik."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The price is reasonable."
"Our customers may want better pricing but we are a reseller and a partner, and the pricing that we get is good."
"Cost-wise, you get some good savings as compared to Cisco."
"I am paying for the hardware and Aruba Central licenses, but I would like a version of Aruba Central to come out with a light version with a few features turned off. Ubiquiti and other vendors have free tools. I believe they're looking at that, but it's not out yet. I hope they will release that to make it competitive because I'm using an enterprise-class switch for small businesses. We're looking for some of those capabilities, but not all of them."
"We pay for the clear pass and the controller."
"There is a license required if you want to use wireless controls for micro-segmentation. However, for Aruba Switches there is no license required."
"The price point was a big consideration for us and it is reasonable enough that we're able to standardize on Aruba for the networking pieces in our organization."
"Pricing for this product is reasonable."
"I consider it to be a cost-effective solution."
"In Pakistan, if you buy this cloud router, it's approximately $700 for the device."
"The price is competitive."
"The licensing for MikroTik is great. It's easy to enter, especially for small businesses. Their model is great."
"I believe the price of the tool is high, but it is okay for the services we get from it."
"They came with the licensing when we purchased them."
"The price of the solution is fair and there is a one-time license purchase only."
"This product has a one-time cost and there is no licensing fee."
