Effective periodic backups enable seamless data recovery
Our primary use case for AWS Backup is for taking periodic backups of our production servers. We schedule these backups to ensure we have the latest snapshots of our servers in place In case of an outage, we are able to restore our servers from the backup. This ensures business continuity and…

Used for cloud databases and overall cyber resiliency
The solution can be installed everywhere. Nowadays, it is deployed on the public cloud. If it's a small-sized environment, it takes two to three hours to configure everything. On a scale from one to ten, where one is difficult and ten is easy, I rate the solution's initial setup ten out of ten.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The solution's most valuable features are its backup capability and tight integration with other AWS services."
"What I like about AWS Backup is its simple approach to a complex problem."
"RDS backup is one of the most crucial components of any client's cloud environment, so we generally use that. Additionally, we store EBS snapshots in S3."
"The most valuable feature is its ease of use."
"It is highly scalable for both SMEs and large enterprises."
"When I was using an on-premises backup, there was an external hard drive or something like that. I had a backup server, but I had a few problems related to transfer when I had to restore something that I have deleted. I had to wait for after-office hours to do something like that, but now I just have to send a mail. Within one hour, I have my restored file."
"It provides an easy data migration process from on-premise to cloud."
"The most valuable features of AWS Backup are point-in-time recovery and support resources."
"The most valuable feature is the ease of use for backing up VMs."
"Even though the data is already in the cloud, it's an AWS, so by accessing the on-prem appliance you can still search because it is indexed from that appliance."
"The solution's most valuable features are its ease of use and performance."
"The solution's main focus is on security and ransomware."
"The solution's most valuable feature is Sensitive Data Discovery."
"The automation capabilities streamline our operations significantly."
"In terms of stability, the product is good."
"It has an easy-to-use interface that is not complicated."

Cons

"It could be less expensive."
"The time it takes to complete the backups could be reduced."
"It requires a lot of time to connect the snapshot, identify the files, and restore a single file manually."
"The notifications on the backup and on the mobile app could be more useful. If they could arrange notes or notifications properly and offer services for managing it in our region, it would be helpful for us."
"The AWS Backup backend reporting is a major area that needs improvement. We would be very excited if we can see some reporting, such as trends. We do understand that there are reports available for S3 Bucket, in which the AWS backend stores the data. However, if we can receive holistic reporting, then it would be very helpful for us."
"If AWS Backup were a hybrid solution that also supported on-premises backups then it would be very helpful, especially if you are doing a migration to the cloud."
"One improvement I would like to see in AWS Backup is the implementation of incremental backups."
"For additional functionalities, it should be more intelligent, like more AI-capabilities."
"I would like to see better integration with applications, such as those from Microsoft, to make backing up from those applications simpler."
"If you're going for Rubrik, you are not opting for the tape library because Rubrik doesn't have the fiber cable connected to the tape library."
"The solution’s pricing could be reduced."
"Integration with the client is something that needs to be improved."
"The AWS backups could be improved."
"If you were to compare it to, say, EMC, the availability of the documentation, training programs, and end-user education aren't as good. Rubrik could improve this."
"Reporting could be improved. For now, it's only exported to CSB files."
"You should be able to add more workloads to Rubrik Go."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The product is inexpensive."
"The pricing is decent."
"We don't use a lot of space, only approximately 900 GB, so the price is reasonable. For standing, it's okay. We normally do a payment to SSML, and they are the ones who pay over there. It is around $100 monthly."
"AWS Backup is a very cheap solution."
"There is a lot of flexibility with the services and pricing. The price is reasonable when compared to other products. This is very good for us."
"The clients pay for the whole AWS bundle. It is an affordable solution."
"AWS is more expensive than some competitors like Azure."
"Its price is much cheaper than some vendors but more expensive than others."
"It's an expensive product if you compare it to traditional backup solutions; however, if you compare it as a total cost of ownership for a solution, it is not."
"I would rate the product's pricing a seven out of ten. The solution's costs are monthly."
"This is a very costly solution."
"Rubrik Go is more cost-effective than similar solutions by other vendors."
"The client pays for the solution depending on what they use."
"Rubrick Go is quite expensive - I would rate its pricing four out of ten."
"The solution is reasonably priced."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is expensive and ten is cheap, I rate the solution's pricing a three out of ten."
