Provides good threat detection and prevention, but it lacks MDM capabilities present in other MDM products
Check Point Harmony Mobile is not so attractive and provides security only for mobile devices. Customers can use Check Point Harmony Mobile to secure their mobile devices, such as Android or Mac smartphones. However, it has less capability than an MDM (Mobile device management). Check Point Harmony Mobile has a good advantage in terms of security posture and security threat detection and prevention. Check Point Harmony Mobile will help prevent 99% of attacks on mobile devices. It is easy to manage Check Point Harmony Mobile. People bring their own devices and connect them to all the other unwanted networks. This causes traffic to flow to these devices from any network source, such as Wi-Fi, LAN, or other public networks. Deploying Check Point Harmony Mobile can ensure the endpoint is sanitized and clean for use at home and the workplace. Overall, I rate the solution a six out of ten.

Makes us part of a bigger security ecosystem with updates taken care of for us, but pricing and support need work
There are definitely a number of things that could be improved. One of them is geographic coverage. China is still an issue because the solution does not operate there properly due to government regulations. I believe Palo Alto is trying pretty hard to get into partnerships with Alibaba and other cloud providers, but they do not have the same compelling offering in China that they have in the rest of the world. Businesses that are operating within China have to be very sure to evaluate the solution before making a buying decision. It is not an issue with Palo Alto, rather it is predominantly the result of government rules, but it's something that Palo Alto needs to work on. There is also room for improvement when it comes to latency in a couple of regions, including India and South America. They might have to increase their presence in those locations and come up with more modern cloud architectures. The third area is that, while Palo Alto has understood the essence of building capabilities around cloud technology and have come up with a CASB offering, that is a very new product. There are other companies that have better offerings for understanding cloud applications and have more graceful controls. That's something that Palo Alto needs to work on.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"With Harmony Mobile, we have been able to provide additional security to our network."
"It monitors all the URLs that a user goes to on their phone and so we can see what they're looking at and we can limit that. Certain topics are not allowed to be accessed. They're monitoring their apps and they rate them based upon how big of a security risk that individual app is based on their ratings. And so we're able to limit those as well and allow people to have some that may be a low risk, but still a risk, but we may allow that for our users whereas we block medium and high risk."
"As a security solution for devices, it can benefit us in many ways, including providing us with data security, access control, network security, and more."
"We've found that the product is quite stable."
"It is a scalable solution. Up to three hundred users are using the solution. I rate the scalability a ten out of ten."
"I really like the application scanning feature that scans all of the installed applications, and not only what appears in the add or remove apps, and then reports the results in the console."
"You can block infected devices from accessing corporate data."
"The most valuable features of this solution are the filtering, interface configuration, and threat management."
"I like it because it's very easy to use. You install the client and you have to know your gateway, but that's something we give to our users. Beyond that, it takes about three seconds to train them on how to use it. And it just works well. That's great for us because it means less administrative time."
"Its frontend is user-friendly. It is easy to use for us."
"The solution's most valuable features were the model's reduced complexity on the client side and its capability to provide security."
"The product's initial setup phase is simple."
"There is a system for monitoring the traffic. You can monitor the traffic of the connected people and point out any issues on the connection part."
"To quarantine and clean a malware file provides a lot of security."
"The solution is not very complex and is easy to manage for people who may or may not have knowledge about Palo Alto Networks."
"This solution provides a DLP on the cloud and very few people have a scanning device for data at rest."

Cons

"One of the improvements that can be made is that they become compatible with Google MDM."
"While it's great, there's always room for improvement. Adding capabilities for automatic deployment in an enterprise environment would be useful."
"For SandBlast Mobile, the only thing that is lacking is that it wasn't available for all types of users. However, Check Point has since fixed this, with ZoneAlarm."
"Some areas that could be improved with Check Point Harmony Mobile include embedding SD-WAN in mobile device products. Our clients are interested in this feature, so it could be a good idea if Check Point Harmony Mobile includes it in the mobile product."
"The deployment in the Android system is very simple but in the case of iOS, it is more complicated so the users require attention from our CAU."
"It does the process in the background and it does a wonderful job but the methodologies don't pop up. They should make it more interactive."
"The ability to integrate local and cloud technologies to create a hybrid scenario would be an upgrade."
"We know that for many companies, the management and administration of device and data security have been complex."
"There is a lack of integration with third-party solutions like CrowdStrike or SentinelOne in Prisma Access by Palo Alto Networks. Although they have a tight ecosystem with their products, opening up for integration with other solutions would be beneficial."
"While Palo Alto has understood the essence of building capabilities around cloud technology and have come up with a CASB offering, that is a very new product. There are other companies that have better offerings for understanding cloud applications and have more graceful controls. That's something that Palo Alto needs to work on."
"Its security is good. Everything is good, but the way the dashboard responds can be improved. It takes time to implement a policy. If you change only two or three lines and push the policy to make the change work, it takes 20 to 30 minutes even for a small change. That is something very irritating from the implementation perspective."
"It applies commits to the firewalls slowly. There isn't an API you can use for anything. We've previously had trouble with the egress IP addresses though we expressed to engineering that those mustn't change. They changed several times without warning, causing a lot of headaches."
"The product's current price is an area of shortcoming where improvements are required."
"When we deploy firewall rules via Panorama, we find it's a little bit slow. We have a global environment and might have 100 gateways or VPNs in the cloud. When we deploy something, it tries to deploy it one-by-one, and that can be slow."
"The documentation is generally good, but they could provide a more detailed description of all the configuration steps. I have to search for information or call support. Palo Alto could add more knowledge base articles about configuration with screenshots and walkthroughs. That would be helpful. When configuring a product, you want to see examples of how it is done."
"When it comes to the VPN, it uses the global protect VPN functionality to connect remotely, but it has a feature limitation for assigning multiple IP sub-links to different user groups. It would be much better if we are able to assign the current IP blocks for the sub-links based on the user groups."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I rate the tool's pricing a three out of ten."
"We pay between 300 and 600 Rupees per year, around seven dollars per month."
"We didn't actually purchase the software. It was given to us by Check Point. We are using it as a test bed for possible future customers."
"The quality, price, and support ratio are very good."
"The cost is huge compared to other products, and it seems this solution is only for companies with a large budget."
"Its cost depends upon the number of users."
"When I purchased the product for one of our company's clients, I realized that the price of the product was competitive."
"Check Point pricing is better than Symantec."
"Actually the solution is very expensive. I don't know the particulars since the purchasing team dealt with it."
"They price their products using credit modules."
"In terms of pricing, considering that it is a two or three years old solution, they should apply big discounts for the next two or three years. This approach will be better for them to capture the market."
"This is not an expensive product and everything is included with one license."
"The licensing fees are paid on a yearly basis and for what we get, the price is good."
"The pricing can be difficult because it came to us with another agreement, but it can be negotiated. I highly recommend people to compare this product's performance and pricing against BetterCloud, because I feel BetterCloud is better than Prisma SaaS if they're starting from scratch."
"I'm still comparing, but the solution is quite expensive."
"The price has been good for the ROI during these difficult times for the cruise industry. There are no hidden costs; what the product offers is what you get."
