Data governance has transformed business glossaries and now drives AI-ready insights
I think it's a great platform. Searching can be made a little better. The data marketplace which it provides is also great, but sometimes when we are searching an element and we know we are not sure if we can find it or if we have missed it. Listing data domains in one place for quick visibility will be an add-on. I am not a hardcore coder. For a coder to create workflows and automate the process, I needed to learn Groovy script and create some workflows. In the automation part, I think it can also introduce a low-code, no-code platform where we can connect different connectors and we can quickly create some automated workflows, if at basic level only, because the next big thing is automation and AI. Low-code, no-code platforms are being used by everyone. I think that will be useful. When I look for a data domain, I'm not able to find it very quickly. For a business owner to know data domains and search data domains, it could be made a little easier. Also, the automation part needs improvement. We are only able to enter the data manually or connect to a data source, but now we want to create some workflows as well. That's why I've chosen a rating of eight. Otherwise, it's really great.

Helpful support that is easy to speak with, reliable with no problems of instances of unavailability
There are three main areas that need to be improved. * The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved. The data should be more unified and cleaner. * Regulatory compliance needs to be achieved. * The governance itself needs improvement. It should be organized and linked to the data catalog and the business glossary, which would give a full view of the customer data. We would like to have the application available in Portuguese and Spanish. This is something that we have spoken with the vendor about.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"We use the solution's Data Stewardship part."
"I help organizations uplift their data governance using Collibra Platform, which has positively impacted our organization."
"The data quality functionality provides cutting-edge, next-level insights when compared to other tools such as Alation and Microsoft Purview."
"The most valuable feature is the Technical Lineage. The fact that you can trace the auditability of a particular field or attribute across various systems is very useful."
"Collibra Catalog is simple to use and user-friendly for those who are not technically inclined since it is easy to find while also easy to see data lineage diagrams."
"I highly recommend this tool to users who want to see the lineage of their data, including technical lineage and business lineage."
"The data lineage capability is valuable as it shows how different sources are connected and how data flows, which is crucial for projects like migrations. Moreover, data lineage visualization in Collibra Catalog aids our data governance initiatives."
"The integration with other Collibra Lineage products is valuable in our data governance initiatives."
"It is an integrated solution that provides end-to-end capabilities for managing the data. It is very useful for cleaning the data. It also allows us to combine data from on-premises and cloud sources. On this unified data, we can perform some advanced analytics to predict customer behavior and create new products. Its management and governance capabilities are valuable. It provides full tracking of the data flow. It provides customers the full control over the data and the ability to protect the data. It enables us to provide the best service to the customers. We also get great support from Infogix."
"This is one of the best technical support groups that I have dealt with, as Infogix support stands out in terms of quality and response time, and it is really easy to speak with them by phone or by email."

Cons

"If it can become more user-intuitive and work on integrating with communication platforms like Slack or Teams, it would significantly help business users."
"I think Collibra Platform could be improved with a simpler UI for business users, faster search capabilities, and better performance for large metadata volumes."
"There are certain processes that involve a lot of manual work, specifically when searching for attributes assignment. It would be better if we could do this via APIs."
"Collibra Catalog could improve its automation to increase the efficiency of the software."
"What I use it for is fairly rudimentary, and I don't have any complaints about it. I haven't tried to stretch the boundaries at all, but it would be nice if there were capabilities built within the system to somehow help enforce the quality and consistency across related elements that are built in the catalog. It could have intelligent capabilities built in to help maintain the quality of the data and information, such as natural language processing, machine learning, and so on."
"A few areas where I think Collibra Platform can improve include user experience; Collibra Platform is very powerful, but for new or occasional users, it can feel complex."
"Sometimes, if a client needs a specific customization, we cannot do it directly. The client needs to reach out to Collibra and request the customization."
"There are certain limitations and difficulties regarding the migration of complex data quality rules, as the tool may struggle with lengthy calculations and longer loading times."
"The 360-degree view for the customers needs to be improved."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language. In our region, people are not fluent in English. It would be nice to have this solution in Portuguese and Spanish. Its workflows are great, but it would be useful to have business flow at a high level because we need to work together with business users. We need more capabilities for business users to understand something in terms of data."
"We would like this solution to be available in our local language like Portuguese and Spanish."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Generally, it is a rather expensive solution compared to some other tools in the market, but I found it to be fair-priced for its capabilities."
"There are different levels of licenses. For example, some users can only do read-only licenses, and others have the stewardship license where they can give access to users."
"We purchase its annual license. There is an extra cost for additional users."
"I think it is on a yearly basis, but I'm not involved with the pricing session, so I have no idea. There are several licenses for different models. You get one license per product, but a lot of features are controlled separately through different licenses. So, as and when you want to use a feature, you have to procure the license for that feature."
"Collibra offers a per-user licensing model."
"Collibra provides you with a license based on the subscription model that you purchase."
"Many of our customers I spoke to felt that the solution is a bit highly-priced."
"I rate the pricing a three on a scale of one to ten, where one is expensive, and ten is cheap."
"Its price is much lower than Informatica. Its licensing is very easy to understand. It is not too complex. There is no maintenance fee. The support is included with the license. Its licensing is subscription-based, which makes it easy to define the budget and other things. It also makes it easier to plan and understand how to use the solution. It uses the pay-as-you-use model, so you can start small and expand the solution and pay as per your usage."
