Great search functionality and useful co-authoring capabilities with an easy setup
The best feature is the co-authoring. Before, in Egnyte desktop sync, it didn't have the capability to co-author. Now, since you have Egnyte Connect on your machine, it gives you the capability to co-author on a single file at the same time. Now that the Egnyte vendor upgraded the version and they introduced the Egnyte Connect, there are a lot of features that they added, including co-authoring. You can also access those files and folders using your mobile device, which is good. Some of our advisors don't have a desktop or laptop, so they are just accessing their files via mobile devices or tablets. Before, in Egnyte desktop sync, you could install it on a certain server. Now, with Egnyte Connect, you can install the application on a particular server, and then you can save your file from there. The initial setup is easy. It's easy to move files around, even to, for example, SharePoint. The search functionality has been good. The user interface is great. Support is great. In Egnyte Connect, you can add more domains if you want to access files and folders.

Easy to use but offers poor integrations with Oracle and has inflexible security configuration
I can't configure the current security I want. There are a lot of bots in it. Sharepoint doesn't integrate well with Oracle, and we use a lot of Oracle products at our company. Therefore, it makes more sense for us to go to Oracle instead of continuing to use Sharepoint.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"It is a good storage solution."
"Egnyte Connect is a great application to save files."
"It's easy to move files around, even to, for example, SharePoint."
"It provides a way to granularly choose which folders from the internet you want to sync to your computer. It is really useful for people who are working on teams that are working with files that are frequently changing. You can go in and pretty clearly see what changes have been made. It gives you a constant feed."
"You can really do a lot of cool things with it in terms of being able to co-author and share documents with users that are not in your organization."
"It is scalable and stable."
"From a small firm perspective, Egnyte Connect is simple, it is easy to get users up and running the same day, and I have nothing negative to say about the software. I can't speak to how Egnyte Connect would operate in a midsize company or even a large Fortune 500 company, but, from our perspective as a small business, it is fantastic."
"The implementation and configuring of the resolution are very easy in the online version."
"The most valuable feature is that it is very usable. I can navigate it, I can have a media call, I can have a call with my project team, so we can chat with every team kind of like WhatsApp. Any time there are projects or other things, we can chat in a secure way. It's automation-specific secure."
"The solution's most valuable aspects are its collaboration capabilities, its communications site and the innovation within the product itself."
"The solution is scalable. You can do both horizontal and vertical scaling."
"The most valuable feature of this solution is the Communication Site."
"The collaboration, the ability for multiple users to work on a single document."
"Document management and records management features are the most valuable."
"The solution is pretty easy to use for the most part."

Cons

"As of right now, I have everything that I and my team need."
"It would be nice to see an integration of using an active directory to validate and authenticate users on our end as well as on the client user's end."
"If this solution had a better ability to search, that would be helpful. In addition, if there was an ability to collaborate, that would also be a benefit. At present, the vision control is had because if someone gets out of it, it locks. And, whoever saves last overrides everyone's work."
"Before, when we were starting to use Egnyte, we were struggling with a lot of bugs with Egnyte desktop sync."
"The issue of my authorization token expiring pretty quickly was pretty annoying. On pretty much every update, it would expire on every computer. On every computer update, at the first opportunity, it would expire. When my computer got updated or the authorization got cut, my saved drives would get messed up. So, I had to reconnect them all. I was never able to set up a useful drive system with my local computer with Egnyte Connect. It would be a big improvement if there was a cached system so that when it loses connection, it can still save what kind of connections were set up, and when it reconnects, it repopulates all those. I don't know if that's even possible, but that's the feature I'd want."
"You cannot delete a file when you have uploaded it in error."
"I would like to see the integration with Teams reinforced."
"The user interface needs improvement because there is a lot of stuff in there. I use five to eight navigation buttons. It should be more user-friendly. Frequently used menu items should be arranged in a proper way. That would be helpful."
"Sharepoint doesn't integrate well with Oracle, and we use a lot of Oracle products at our company. Therefore, it makes more sense for us to go to Oracle instead of continuing to use Sharepoint."
"This solution is not very stable. It is useful to arrange data but it's not the best for big data. Sometimes we have issues with our reports as a result."
"I think these tools do a pretty good job. There is only one area of improvement. Maybe Microsoft can invest a little bit more into the ease at which integration can be done with other third party applications."
"The product could be improved by accommodating different technologies, particularly integration."
"The product is behind in development and lacks some features."
"The ability to preview files in different formats should be expanded to include formats such as embedded postscript (EPS), AutoCAD, and Adobe Acrobat PDF."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"I do not have experience with the pricing of this solution."
"As far as I understand, licenses are associated with the Egnyte platform. There aren't any licenses associated with Egnyte Connect."
"Pricing plans may be flexible depending on volume usage and your corporate relationship with Microsoft."
"There are some aggressive discounts offered by Microsoft for organizations that are not for profit, which we are, and it makes it quite attractive to consider."
"One of the reasons why we don't recommend the cloud version of SharePoint is the cost. With the on premise version, you pay for the license once. For the cloud version, there is a recurring fee. It is very expensive. They expect everyone to pay $20 or $30 per user per month."
"It can be expensive for on-premises deployments, especially when you have to support SQL Server as your backend database. That's where the cost comes into play. SQL Server has its own licensing, which Microsoft keeps on changing. Therefore, it can become costly. In the earlier versions of SharePoint, version 2007 or 2010, they had an express version where the SQL Server licensing was free. It wasn't like a full-blown SharePoint. It was only a slimmed-down version. It used to be whatever your hardware costs. You would install the free software and work with it, but you were very limited in what you could do in SharePoint. If you wanted the SharePoint Enterprise Server with all the bells and whistles, then you had to pay more to get the SQL Server license based on the number of users or servers. The subscription model is different for cloud deployments. Licensing is per user and per month. The cost also depends on the storage required. If you have a lot of sites or documents, then you need to expand it based on your needs."
