Parallel data processing streamlines operations while cost and cloud integration challenge adoption
The cost of the solution is on the more expensive side, which is a concern for me. Additionally, its promotion and interaction with cloud applications are limited. The cloud version is only available in AWS, and in the Middle East, it is not well-developed in the Azure environment. For the cost to be reduced, it should match competitors. Many features need to be incorporated on the cloud.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"The benefit is really because of the additional speed that we have and, truth be told, the more updated ETL processes and the revamped scheduler in general."
"The performance is most important to me, and it helps our ability to make business decisions quickly."
"Parallel data processing is a significant feature for me."
"The most valuable feature would be the fact that it has been running for awhile in an appliance format."
"We are able to execute very complex queries. Over 90 percent of our query executions are one second or less. We do millions of queries everyday."
"The most valuable features of the IBM Netezza Performance Server are the NPS server because of the reduced maintenance and overall good performance."
"IBM Netezza Performance Server is a cost-effective solution."
"The data governance prospect... from what I've seen, that is a really powerful tool as well, to help with data lineage and keeping track of that."
"The most valuable features of Oracle Database for data management are its ability to handle large datasets seamlessly, support for writing custom PL/SQL stored procedures, and its capability to perform complex computations and statistics directly within the database."
"We find the solution to be stable."
"I like the enterprise features as well as the stability."
"Compared to other databases, Oracle Database is very simple to manage in terms of the database itself."
"The latest version is a lot more organized than the previous version. We can check out the regular files and our dictionaries and our created files, which are a little better organized right now."
"Oracle is a stable product and we plan to continue implementing it."
"We use Oracle Database to run applications. We use it for our clients' databases and applications."
"The features that we find most valuable are Data Pump, GoldenGate, and the RMAN (Recovery Manager)."

Cons

"Oracle Exadata's security features, like TDE encryption, are missing in IBM Netezza Performance Server."
"The product cost is high compared to others in the market, and this cost has become unbearable for me."
"IBM Netezza Performance Server could improve its interface, support for big data, and APA-based connectivity should be available."
"The only issue is that it's not expandable."
"Our main problem with it is concurrency. When there are too many users running Netezza at the same time, this is when we have the most complaints."
"The scalability is not as expected. The capacity in the black box is not enough."
"In terms of features that I would like to see, one is the ability to actually scale out an architecture. Right now, if you buy one, it's fixed. There is no scale-up availability at all."
"LIke Teradata, we can’t add a node/SPU to the existing appliance."
"The dashboard is not user-friendly."
"It's not very user-friendly, and it's a little complex. Another issue that I don't like is the licensing complexity."
"We faced some difficulties in the network configuration area. All these things can be fixed with the support of Oracle's networking team. We didn't face any other major problems. Its deployment can be easier. It should be easier to configure for a developer. If a developer is planning a database and trying to configure it, it should be easy for him because many times, we cannot directly get help from DBAs."
"I have contacted the support from Oracle and they are sometimes slow."
"We don't really find that any features are lacking."
"Oracle Cloud has a bit of a learning curve, so from an improvement perspective, we need to have a simple way to connect to computing in Oracle Cloud."
"Oracle Database could improve by making migration less difficult and having better integration. For example, having the ability to communicate, using native features, to different databases. Mostly connectivity to different databases, such as open-source databases or any other database."
"Since the solution is from Oracle it tends to be complex when trying to integrate with other solutions."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"The pricing is very expensive. It has a lot CPUs with a lot of components in it. It also has built-in redundancy for resiliency reasons."
"The solution has a yearly licensing fee, and users have to pay extra for support."
"Netezza is a costly solution. It does serve a specific purpose but it's costlier than what's available in the market, if you go to the cloud."
"You buy it when you need it, and then you pay the maintenance. We bought the licenses over 10 years ago. We haven't changed our licenses. We are not buying new licenses, and we are not looking at other devices. So, it is difficult to say whether it is cheap or expensive. There is nothing to compare to."
"The price is a little high for the solution, especially when you try and configure it in certain ways."
"Our customers buy licenses from Oracle directly."
"We mainly use a special license for ERP systems specifically, instead of a general purpose license. This ERP-focused license is very simple. You just have to use Oracle Database with an ERP system and that's it."
"The price is very expensive for the support."
"Our licensing costs are between $40,000 and $50,000 per year. Those are the costs that cover maintenance and licensing."
"You buy it initially, and then you pay for yearly support if you need support. If you don't need support, you can also use it without the support."
"I understand that Oracle is very expensive compared to other databases."
