Offers profiling and address standardization but can be complicated
Informatica Data Quality has its data warehouse, primarily using Oracle and some SQL databases. You need a database to host the data. The cleansed version of the data is stored in the data warehouse. It integrates with PowerCenter and other Informatica tools. The integration details can be complex, but a regional setup is involved in this process. Profiling smaller datasets, such as 10,000-50,000 records, worked fine. However, unexpected issues could arise with larger datasets, such as thousands of records or more, especially with tables containing many columns. Handling tables with fifty or more columns can be challenging, even in Excel. A mismatch in data types could cause the entire system to crash. Continual enhancements are being made to address these issues, which can be unique to specific industries like finance and healthcare.

Enables robust integration capabilities, facilitating seamless connection with various systems and applications
We utilized Oracle BPM to automate various administrative processes within our organization, specifically focusing on eliminating paper-based workflows related to licensing procedures in our environment. Oracle BPM enabled collaboration between our IT and business teams for effective process management. Utilizing the Oracle VPN, we experienced significant improvements in process efficiency. For instance, a process that previously took forty days before implementation was reduced to just twenty minutes after implementing Oracle BPM. This remarkable reduction in time demonstrates the substantial benefits brought about by the solution. The solution is comprehensive, encompassing modeling, implementation, and runtime capabilities. Additionally, by leveraging this platform, we seamlessly integrated Oracle Portal and Oracle Document Management, providing a complete solution within the Oracle ecosystem. The integration capabilities of Oracle BPM with other systems significantly influenced our workflow. Our workflow was impacted positively by these integrations. Initially, we utilized Oracle BPM alongside other Oracle products such as Oracle Context Manager, Oracle Portal, and Oracle Document Management. Despite using multiple products, they are seamlessly integrated, providing a comprehensive solution for our clients. This solution encompassed document management, workflow control, process execution, and automation, effectively streamlining processes and eliminating bureaucratic hurdles. The transparency and efficiency achieved through this integrated approach were highly beneficial for our clients.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"I give the stability a ten out of ten."
"The most valuable features of Informatica MDM are its reliability, match functions, and integration capabilities. The out-of-box functionality of deduplication and built-in data models ensure faster implementation."
"The serverless capability and the packaging application of the solution are valuable."
"A great product enrichment tool."
"It has become an easy way to exchange information through any cloud application."
"Axon has something called Overlay, which can be used to extend the technical lineage."
"We can scan anything."
"The valuable feature is metadata management. If you want to trace sensitive data, you can auto-classify them. You can search for sensitive information through EDC. Using Discovery, you can identify if there is any type of data set."
"The benefit from the tool is we can develop it quickly and easily use it for middleware services. We can publish the services so other applications can consume them. This is providing us some reusability and a type of security."
"It has developmental accelerators, which allow for virtually any customization needs which you may require."
"The default Workspace does not meet all our needs and sometimes you need to create your own custom Workspace."
"Currently, we define the tasks, and based on certain decision rules, the tool decides the task priorities and the time frame of the task."
"One of the most valuable features is its user-friendly API, which simplifies the implementation of workflows, such as managing inbox tasks for specific users within BPM profiles."
"The Workspace is a full, rich application where most users can find what they want. It shows them a list of their work."
"I find the data lineage features most valuable."
"It is quite scalable and can be applied to enterprise-level organizations effectively."

Cons

"Informatica Data Quality has its data warehouse, primarily using Oracle and some SQL databases. You need a database to host the data."
"It can be improved in terms of performance and execution. I'm expecting better performance. It currently has some restrictions in terms of execution. For example, if we want to run it in the command mode and execute it, there are some restrictions, and we are facing some issues with a huge volume of data. These restrictions are not there in Informatica PowerCenter because we are able to execute a huge volume of data, and there are more ways to execute it."
"While my company operates on the cloud, we have seen that Informatica Cloud Data Integration has some performance issues causing it to lag."
"New machine learning could be added to Informatica MDM because the solution is outdated and is not moving with the current trends. The solution is good, but it definitely needs a lot of improvement and needs to speed up as per the market."
"The cost of Informatica MDM is expensive and has room for improvement."
"The setup is complex."
"The solution still is a bit manual in its functionality. We want t to be more automation-driven."
"The tool could be improved in terms of ease of use, particularly for those without technical expertise. Understanding and extracting data from the table-based structure requires some SQL knowledge and technical skills. Additionally, while Informatica MDM has moved towards a cloud-based MDM with a UI similar to Reltio, I haven't used it, so I can't comment on its effectiveness."
"The solution needs to offer better integration with third-party systems."
"It would be good if they could provide some additional connectors or an application developer environment for microservices."
"Pricing is an area that could use improvement."
"The time it takes to get from deployment to production could be faster."
"Oracle BPM could probably be improved with respect to the cost. When you are using this product, it'll be a bit costlier for the ROA. I think they should do some discounts on these products, especially for the licenses."
"Existing APIs in the product need to be fine-tuned, made more robust and flexible for adoption."
"The default Workspace does not meet all our needs and sometimes you need to create your own custom Workspace."
"Oracle BPM should allow integration with external, common APIs."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"Licensing is difficult to understand, but the team is always available to explain anything. They are very helpful."
"We saw an ROI. We have been able to get data from various sources and consolidate it into a data lake, which is helping us in data analytics."
"We have licenses, and we are provided with certain particular services in the solution."
"So, there are plans for licensing. There are subscription-based and usage-based licenses. Also, there are licenses for exceptional analytics, etc. In short, there are different models of licensing for every enterprise."
"it's expensive, but if you're looking for a stable solution, Informatica MDM is a good one to choose."
"The product is not very pocket-friendly for small and medium-sized businesses, and it is understandable because of the kind of features the tool gives."
"A yearly subscription is paid based on the number of people using the solution. Price-wise, it falls under the medium range since it is neither very costly nor too cheap."
"My understanding is that Informatica is quite expensive compare to other tools that are available in the market."
"This solution is very expensive. You are charged per license and an additional 20% for support."
"The pricing is very expensive."
"I don't have information on the exact cost of Oracle BPM because a different team handles that, but it's pretty high. Oracle products are very costly. I would rate pricing for Oracle BPM three out of five. Though the pricing is high, the solution has a lot of features."
"We received the product packaged into the Oracle database solution."
"As with all Oracle products, the licensing over VMware is an issue."
"Oracle is good, but they're still expensive compared to other vendors."
"The licensing model is good."
"The pricing is significantly high, particularly for Brazil where fluctuations in the exchange rate between the dollar and the real can further increase the cost of Oracle licenses."
