Offers profiling and address standardization but can be complicated
Informatica Data Quality has its data warehouse, primarily using Oracle and some SQL databases. You need a database to host the data. The cleansed version of the data is stored in the data warehouse. It integrates with PowerCenter and other Informatica tools. The integration details can be complex, but a regional setup is involved in this process. Profiling smaller datasets, such as 10,000-50,000 records, worked fine. However, unexpected issues could arise with larger datasets, such as thousands of records or more, especially with tables containing many columns. Handling tables with fifty or more columns can be challenging, even in Excel. A mismatch in data types could cause the entire system to crash. Continual enhancements are being made to address these issues, which can be unique to specific industries like finance and healthcare.

Integrates with other third-party solutions, but Bill of materials (BOM) creation needs to be enhanced
We are trying to get the cloud solution of SAP Master Data Governance for multiple clients, which requires more improvement. Bill of materials (BOM) creation in manufacturing needs to be enhanced in SAP Master Data Governance. Clients have also suggested improvements in managing a hierarchy and ensuring that you maintain and work on the hierarchy side.

Quotes from Members

We asked business professionals to review the solutions they use. Here are some excerpts of what they said:

Pros

"Performance and flexibility-wise, they're very user-friendly."
"Axon does one interesting thing that I don't think other tools do as well. It lets you rate data and incorporates Informatica's data quality feature into it. There are little indications and graphics that show you how good the data quality is, and you can drill into it to see where potential issues lie."
"The technical support services are good."
"The most valuable feature of Informatica MDM is hierarchy management. It's not something that's typically available and effective within ERPs."
"The product improves data quality."
"Address Doctor gives an accurate combination of information provided with a level of returned threshold value."
"I know that there are two good features, APN and ServiceNow but we haven't explored all of its features yet."
"Informatica Cloud Data Integration is stable."
"The most valuable thing is what it does: data management."
"The solution is great at standardizing all of our records."
"The data capturing and data governance features are valuable."
"User-friendly and provides customized reports and personalized data."
"Useful for building master data."
"This is an all-around good product."
"We've managed tens of thousands of updates within 30 to 60 minutes, and we can also replicate these changes to all connected systems."
"The product is easy to use and is beneficial from a data governance perspective."

Cons

"The user interface can be a bit more functionality-aligned."
"Informatica's issue is the licensing. Right now, there are a lot of new gen MDMs that are offering a lot in a single licensing model."
"Certain shortcomings in the product's UI make it an area where improvements are required."
"There's certainly room for improvement. One crucial area is generating detailed reports on file statuses. Presently, this is represented visually, often as graphs or charts. Such reporting could offer comprehensive insights into the areas that demand attention and further scrutiny."
"Although we are very satisfied with the design of the UI, executing tasks with it can be difficult."
"The vendor should have more training resources: online classes, free tutorial videos, etc."
"There's no direct way to connect to Amazon APIs from Informatica Cloud."
"Informatica MDM could be improved by adding drag and drop options, business data insights, and visualization reporting."
"There were challenges with handling multiple values within a single input field at the screen level."
"It does not ensure data matches after system upgrades."
"They should improve the solution's performance as sometimes the process consumes much time."
"Overall, they just a little bit more flexibility in terms of assigning roles or adding new roles. We have a longer approval process, so we need to break it down into more roles than what is typically available and we need to hard-code it."
"The implementation could be easier."
"The multidomain MDM feature is based on EIP systems, which may not be a good model for all master data."
"The platform's pricing needs improvement."
"There is no clarity and direction on how to manage bills of materials (BOMs) or routing in MDG."

Pricing and Cost Advice

"So, there are plans for licensing. There are subscription-based and usage-based licenses. Also, there are licenses for exceptional analytics, etc. In short, there are different models of licensing for every enterprise."
"I have heard from customers that the product comes with a huge license cost."
"On a scale from one to ten, where one is cheap and ten is expensive, I rate the solution's pricing nine and a half out of ten."
"The solution is very expensive."
"It is cost effective and an easily accessible tool."
"The price is comparable."
"The pricing is high compared to other tools on the market."
"Informatica Axon is a costly solution. I rate Informatica Axon a four out of ten for its pricing."
"The product is too expensive."
"We have an enterprise license. The whole SAP landscape pricing model is based on the number of users, and the number of transactions. The price could be better, there is always room for improvement in the price."
"The solution is costly."
"The cloud solution is subscription-based, it is paid monthly or quarterly. If the solution is on-premises, it is a one-time fee. As far as I am aware there are no additional costs."
"I rate the tool's pricing a seven out of ten."
"SAP Master Data Governance is a licensed product. While there might be no upfront cost for the MDG component itself, you still need to pay for user authorizations."
"The licensing cost is reasonable."
"SAP Master Data Governance is an expensive solution."

Riversand technology is leader in the MDM space and makes a product called MDMcenter. Gartner and Forrester put these guys in a leader and visionary quadrant topping Informatica, oracle, and sap. They have a product used by many fortune 1000s and multinational companies. I have rolled out MDM solutions for a bunch of customers using different platforms and Riversand's is the best. They hav...
